Creative Diversity Level 3 Apprenticeship
The C4 Apprenticeship Programme
If you are looking for an opportunity to gain work experience and a qualification, then an apprenticeship at Channel 4 might be for you.
Our Apprenticeships are full-time, with four days per week spent working in a C4 department and one day per week completing the formal learning parts of the apprenticeship. You’ll spend 60% of your working week in your office base and 40% working from home.
The formal training provided will consist of workshops, tutorials, webinars, coaching and in some cases residential boot camps. You can read more about the qualification being offered for this apprenticeship below.

The programme aims to offer opportunities to those currently underrepresented in the TV industry, so we are particularly keen to hear from Deaf and/or disabled people, ethnically diverse people and people from lower socio-economic groups.
Am I Eligible To Apply?
- You must be 18 years old or over at the time the scheme starts to apply. There is no upper age limit.
- You’ll need to have a Grade C (4) or above in Maths & English GCSE
- You can’t have already completed the qualification being offered or similar at the same or higher level

Department Description
The Creative Diversity team sit at the heart of Commissioning and work across all genres and platforms.
We deliver increased representation on screen and behind the camera, encourage greater inclusion, and ensure that portrayal within our programmes is authentic, challenges stereotypes and reflects the lives of everyone living in Britain today.
We’re involved at the very start of the commissioning process helping to identify talent and opportunities that help shows to meet our Commissioning Diversity Guidelines. Through the Creative Diversity Fund we work with Heads of Departments to target funding to accelerate talent, ideas and independent producers.
The team has an open-door policy and aim to support and advise Channel 4’s production partners, specifically to help them to meet the Commissioning Diversity Guidelines and also to support off screen talent where possible. We are creative partners, collaborators and facilitators working collectively to advocate for equality and ensure that real, substantial change takes place through our work.
Key Responsibility
- To provide Inclusion and Diversity support to the Commissioning teams and Creative Diversity team.
- To provide administrative support via meeting minutes, some travel arrangements, team project diary.
- To provide logistical support when relevant for events, including room booking, invite lists, and support at outreach and networking events including meets and greets.
- To support the tracking of Nations and Regions based off-screen talent from underrepresented backgrounds and maintain documents that track career progression.
- To support the Creative Diversity Co-ordinator with research, maintaining details of grassroots organisations, supporting outreach and engagement with local creative communities, and helping with talent pipelines.
- To provide administrative support for the Creative Diversity team newsletter, researching resources and relevant industry information.
- To support the team in tracking Commissioning projects weekly to ensure all relevant project forms have been sent.
- To prepare and support with PowerPoint presentations with direction from relevant Creative Diversity lead.
- To provide assistance and support to the Creative Diversity Lead for Nations and Regions and the Creative Diversity Disability Lead to help deliver strategic projects.
- To maintain a log of all Creative Diversity projects and programming to feed into team briefings and reports.
Essential Experience & Skills

- Verbal and written communication skills - Verbal - e.g. experience of dealing with customers or working as part of a team. Communication – e.g. writing emails, completing an application form or essay, or if you have a hobby that involves creative writing.
- Attention to detail - e.g. Cashing up on tills or proofreading coursework.
- Organisation skills and ability to prioritise tasks - e.g. Planning events whether personal or for professional purposes, as well as managing work life balance, for example working whilst doing coursework/exams.
- An understanding of and a passion for Channel 4's remit
- Confirm you have Maths & English GCSE Grade C (4) or above
- Good sense of initiative and ability to work independently
- Positive and proactive attitude
- Computer literacy with experience of using excel, word, power-point and emails
- Enjoy working as part of a team

Relocation
If you need to relocate in order to take up this opportunity, we can offer you support towards the financial costs of moving. This includes a contribution towards your deposit and first months’ rent, plus visits to your new city to look for accommodation.
