RicNic is looking to recruit a part time Workshop Assistant to support the delivery of our creative projects with children and young people. The core hours of the role will involve supporting the delivery of weekly drama/creative sessions (Friday afternoons 4pm-6pm) at Manor Farm Community Association, Rushall, Walsall during term time. There will be additional hours available to support full-day sessions with our young people during the summer holidays, creating play-in-a-day style workshops for different age groups and to support our Community Art Days which run on weekends or in school holidays across local community venues.
Our ideal Workshop Assistant will be passionate about the arts, being creative and working with young people. You will be keen to get involved in working directly with the children and teenagers who attend our sessions. No prior experience is necessary, but a willingness to learn is essential.
RicNic embraces inclusivity, diversity and equal opportunities across our organisations and throughout our projects. We are committed to building a team that represents a variety of backgrounds, perspectives and skills, who respect the views of our participants and the challenges they face. Together we are then able to promote a culture of understanding, learning and collaboration across generations.
As we are a youth-charity which aims to support young people at all stages of their creative journey, this role may suit someone who is looking for their first paid employment in the creative industry.
This role is offered on a fixed term basis until December 2024. Subject to funding there may be further extensions beyond this date. The role is subject to a DBS check.
To apply for this role please send your CV and a covering letter or video statement to jennifer@ricnic.org.uk, telling us why you would like to be considered. Please note applications without a cover letter will not be considered.
If you have any questions about the role before applying, please contact us at the same address.
Closing date for applications is: Friday 3rd May
Interviews will take place in the week commencing Monday 6th May
About Us
RicNic is a youth arts charity which provides children and young people with opportunities to get involved in creative projects, developing their confidence, skills and leadership experiences. Originally established by students in Winchester in 2004, RicNic has grown to become an established charity covering multiple locations. Today the majority of our work is delivered across the Midlands and Staffordshire to young people aged 5-25.
We run a 4-strand programme of activity covering workshops, creative training, production opportunities and paid-placements for aspiring young creatives. All of our work is based on a youth-led approach, offering our participants the chance to take ownership of our projects from running short activities to producing full-scale theatre productions themselves.
We do not currently have a fixed office base and all of our staff work from home, unless out delivering workshops or youth training. Our regular, weekly sessions currently run at Manor Farm Community Association, Rushall.
