Credit Analyst - Commercial Real Estate

We are working with a prestigious international bank who specialise in BTL and commercial lending. They are currently seeking a Credit Analyst with 3 years of experience in the banking sector to join their team and carry out the following duties:

• Meet KPIs related to review of credit requests, reporting and other performance standards.
• Top products Handled - Buy to let, Commercial Real Estate and Commercial loans for SME
• Analyse client’s company’s financials and create projections to determine repayment ability and credit-worthiness.
• Revert to the RM with queries on the credit application within specified turnaround time.
• Reviewing existing client exposures, active monitoring of large exposures and exposures to specific products keeping abreast of key news items pertaining to clients especially large and critical clients
• Presenting credit facility requests along with a detailed analysis, identifying key risk issues and researching a reasoned conclusion along with recommendations to bank’s credit committee for decision.
• Reviewing credit policies, strategies and procedures and updating them in line with Group requirements, industry trends, regulatory requirements, and improved risk management & risk mitigation Preparing detailed analysis on the client’s business performance, client’s operating sector, ability to repay & profitability for the bank. Ensure all major queries are resolved prior to the case being submitted to the Head of Credit Approval.
• Highlighting any errors to the credit process chain.
• Documentation of proposal related information to be in conformity with requirements as set out internally.
• Check monthly/quarterly portfolio review reports.
• Maintain electronic filing of all credit requests and organising each request accordingly.
• Undertake projects and assignments from time to time as directed by the Head of Credit Approval.
• Liaison with Credit Administration, ACPM, Finance, Compliance; Audit for processes relating to Credit Approval function.
• Qualifying loan applicants based on eligibility and credit policy to determine the most appropriate loan product for the client’s credit requirement and present to relevant committees for approvals.
• Acting as secretary to Credit Committees and Policy meetings

Skills and Competencies:

• Knowledge of the UK economy, BTL and Commercial Real Estate market, related regulatory and legal environment and possible challenges.
• Sound understanding of the SME lending & Trade Finance within the UK context.
• Ability to conduct analysis on financial statements, financial projections, business model, competitive positions in relevant industries, management track record of success, etc.
• Sound understanding of Risks and Mitigants for On-Balance sheet and Off-Balance Sheet credit facilities.
• Understanding of BASEL and PRA & FCA Risk Guidelines, Calculations and Policy Adherence
• Proficiency in the use of Excel, spread-sheets, database tools
• Knowledge of Emerging Markets SMEs, Business models, market trends and industry trends is preferred.
• Workout knowledge for problematic corporate accounts is desirable.

Key Requirements

• Minimum of 3 years in a Credit Analyst role at a bank.
• Sound understanding of the UK market for SME lending & Trade Finance.
• High level of understanding of financial statements.
• Sound understanding of Risks and Mitigants for On-Balance sheet and Off-Balance Sheet credit facilities.
• Understanding of BASEL and PRA & FCA Risk Guidelines, Calculations and Policy Adherence.
• Proficiency in the use of Excel, spread-sheets, database tools.
