Hours: 37 per week

We are seeking an enthusiastic and positive person with a desire and drive to work within the operational Crematorium team in providing excellent Bereavement Services.

You will work as part of our Bereavement Services Team in providing a supportive, calming, caring, sensitive and quality service to the bereaved, members of the public attending the crematorium and cemeteries.

As part of our busy team, you will ensure that families are given the best experience possible. No two days will be the same as each family and service are uniquely personal. You will be involved in a variety of tasks each day including:

Cremation: You’ll be fully trained and work towards an accredited ICCM qualification under supervision and guidance from experienced colleagues. You will be involved in the end-to-end cremation process and ashes management. PPE will be provided for your safety.

Grounds Maintenance: You will be responsible for all grounds maintenance activity (training will be given) including:

- Assisting with interments / preparation of burial plots if required

- General upkeep of our grounds

-  Undertake daily machinery checks and record operator hours

-  Emptying of grounds bins and accumulated waste

-  Clearing of all debris around the buildings and carparks

- Seasonal gardening and grounds maintenance including lawn cutting, strimming, leaf clearance, hedge cutting, litter picking, watering, weeding, pruning and planting schemes.

Cemeteries: We also manage 12 cemeteries and various closed churchyards so you will be involved in these areas including leading in funerals, grounds maintenance and assisting in headstone safety testing.

The successful candidate will be required to complete their Cremator Technicians Training Scheme qualification (usually within 9-12 months).

You will need to have:

  • A keen eye for detail
  • Excellent organisation skills
  • Ability to work calmly under pressure and in all weathers
  • Ability to prioritise your own workload with a flexible approach to working hours
  • Physical capability to carry out essential duties of the role
