An opportunity has arisen in the Wiltshire CONNECT service for a full-time, permanent Criminal Justice Advanced Practitioner. This is a County wide role, so driving is essential. The successful candidate will support the Criminal Justice Team Manager in taking a strategic approach to reducing drug related crime in Wiltshire, as outlined in the government’s 10-year drug strategy “from Harm to Hope”. This will include giving support, guidance, and direction to a team of high performing Criminal Justice Workers, managing relationships with police, prisons, courts, and probation service, and holding a small case load of clients who have a history of returning to prison within 3 months of leaving.

The successful candidate will work in partnership with the Engagement & Prevention Advanced Practitioner and other teams in delivering the ambitions of the CONNECT service. To do this they must be organised, focused, able to work in a team or independently, have good leadership qualities, and be innovative in their approach. 

This is an exciting opportunity for the right candidate to play an integral role in reducing the impact of Substance use related crime in Wiltshire. You will work closely with key partner agencies in this ambition and form part a strategic response to local Criminal Justice issues. Your input will directly influence the way Criminal Justice Substance use interventions are delivered in Wiltshire to ensure that, as a partnership, we deliver effective and meaningful support to those we support.

As a Criminal Justice Advanced Practitioner we offer a starting salary of £27,300 rising each year in line with our pay progression salary bands, rising to £31,937 per year. (Dependent on experience you may be offered a starting salary above the initial starting salary).

Role Responsibility

As well as the responsibility of having a small case load, your Daily duties will include supporting the criminal Justice Manager in the planning and coordinating of:

  • Court ordered treatments.
  • Drug supply disruption activities.
  • Drug test on arrest interventions.
  • Police custody in reach
  • Deferred adult Police cautions.
  • Continuity of care for Prison leavers
  • Reducing the number of females engaged in the Criminal Justice system.

The Ideal Candidate

Essential Requirements:

  • Carry a designated caseload of service users with complex needs that may include one of the following: mental health, long term conditions, Criminal Justice, offending behaviour, homelessness, motivational interviewing, safeguarding, family work;
  • Conduct assessments of need and risk assessments and formulate risk management plans and recovery plans that recognise the personal recovery goals of the service user; 
  • Effective partnership working with members of any multi-disciplinary team and other agencies and coordinate multi-agency meetings when appropriate;
  • Deliver interventions that are underpinned by a strong evidence base; 
  • Participate in clinical meetings and complex case meeting and be confident and competent at presenting cases orally and through written reports;  
  • Support the learning and development of Recovery Workers and Trainee Recovery Workers, providing specialist input into Multi-Disciplinary Meetings; 
  • Provide supervision, mentoring and coaching to staff to support their development, learning and standards of care;
  • Being known as a knowledgeable in a designated specialism within the service (e.g. substance use and mental health, Homelessness/complex needs, domestic abuse, mental capacity);
  • Ensuring achievement of key performance indicators relevant to your role;
  • Delivering internal learning events and representing Turning Point nationally if required in your specialist area. 

Desirable:

  • Relevant qualification (e.g. Health and Social Care, Nursing; Social Work, psychology degree).
