Address Driving, loading, unloading and transportation of trolleys and equipment cross-site for the Centralised Sterile Services Department (CSSD). Ensuring the transportation of trolleys and equipment is done in a safe and timely manner. Carry out required checks of the vehicle before and after use and to report any faults. Comply with the departmental ISO Work Instructions and Procedures Manual regarding the sterilisation of reusable medical devices.
Operation of decontamination equipment including washer disinfectors and sterilisers, as and when required, in accordance with documented procedures and work instructions. Storing, handling, stock control and release of sterile/disinfected product. CSSD portering duties as and when required. Receipt/checking/inspection of loan kits as and when required.
Completion of all documentation relating to the drivers role and departmental ISO quality system. Follow protocols for safe working including PPE, hand washing, spillages, accidents, untoward incidents, use of chemicals (COSHH) and contaminated equipment. Use of computerised traceability system to enable trays of instruments and endoscopes to be tracked through the decontamination process. Effective communication within the department and with departmental customers.
Follow the departmental and trust policies for the disposal of waste. Training of other staff in the departmental process and procedures as and when required. Work within the departmental ISO Work Instructions and Procedures Manual. Observe safe working practices in accordance with Health & Safety Policies and Departmental Risk Assessments and report any incidents/accidents.
