Customer Sampling Technician

What you’ll be doing
You really will be working on the front line and be the face of Thames Water to our customers.
Every year, Thames Water carries out over 500,000 tests on samples of water that they routinely collect from their treatment works, reservoirs, and randomly selected customer properties, to ensure your drinking water is of the highest quality.

• You will be visiting customers directly at their homes, and also treatment works and reservoirs in order to take water samples. This is to ensure the standard of drinking water we provide to our customers is always to the best standards possible.
• This role involves extensive travel between customers and sites, and you will be working as part of a busy team across a wide geographical area
• It will be your responsibility to test water samples, and you’ll oversee managing the maintenance of your sampling records and sampling equipment to industry standards
• You may also investigate supply issues and customer complaints

What you should bring to the role

• Have excellent customer service, communication and interpersonal skills are needed as you will be visiting customer homes on behalf of Thames Water.
• Have the confidence to ‘cold call’ upon residential and commercial properties
• A clean manual driving license is required. You must hold the license minimum for 1 year
• Ability to plan journeys efficiently as well as good driving knowledge
• Be organized and work well on your own
• Have excellent attention to detail
• Be open to learning about the water industry and processes relevant to this area of work.
• Good computer literacy

Hourly Pay rate: 13.46 per hour
Expenses: Excluded
Location: Crossness, London
Length of assignment: This is a 6 Month temporary contract, with opportunity to extend for another 6 months.
Required Start date: 08.03.2024 (to be discussed)
Hours: 38 hours per week,  Monday to Friday from 7:30 am to 3 pm, 2 working on call weekend in 7 required
