Cyber Security Analyst

A Cyber Security Analyst is required for our client based in Manchester, for an initial 6–month contract. This is a hybrid position, 2–3 days per week on site (please only apply if you can commit to hybrid working).

Skills and experience:

• Certified, and/or working towards a cyber or security certification or equivalent.
• Experience of working in an information security or information management role in ICT.
• Security administration of IT systems.
• Understanding of malicious software, methods of detection and Implementation of preventative measures.
• Understanding of the concept of Risk and Risk Management
• Good knowledge of business continuity and disaster recovery within a large organisation
• Knowledge of IT security standards and frameworks such as the HMG Minimum Cyber Standard, IASME, Cyber Essentials and ISO27001
• Experience in managing, developing and implementing large scale solutions
• Significant and successful experience in project management
• Ability to support ICT Services in responding positively to internal initiatives as well as national processes and inspections
• Significant technical hands on experience in an ICT environment
• Receptive to new ideas, willing to change and encourages flexibility of approach and problem solving in others

Key responsibilities:

• Act as point of escalation for service requests/incidents/complaints in line with the agreed escalation processes.
• Be actively involved in the problem management processes.
• Support the drive towards self–service across the organisation with the aim of improving the quality of service through the identification and implementation of automated support options
• Contribute to and champion the implementation of standards and procedures which underpin the services provided by ICT Services.
• Support the Work Group Manager in the analysis of performance data
• Maintain close working links with customers, colleagues across ICT and third party suppliers to aid with speedy fault resolution, installations and other related services.
• Manage projects and work with various project groups to advise on and facilitate IT implementation issues in order to achieve goals and objectives of agreed projects.
• Evaluate and test new systems/technologies documenting findings as appropriate.
• To assist the WGM in ensuring that legislative requirements and corporate standards relating to ICT are adhered to e.g. Data Protection, system security, software/hardware standards, Health and Safety.

Security

• To create, and keep under review, the ICT Security Policy for the organisation, ensuring that it is fit for purpose. Ensure that the strategy remains in line with the business and technology strategies and conforms to all relevant standards and statutory requirements
• Work to achieve user understanding of the ICT Security Policy, including coordinating the widespread dissemination of the contents of the policy and promoting adherence amongst staff
• Keep up to date and develop the ICT Security pages on the intranet including the content of all linked internal documents
• Identify and advise on vulnerabilities and undertake threat and risk assessments and analysis
• Advise on risk management and counter measures to minimise the impact of information security risks.
