Salary: Up to £39,000 dependent upon experience

The Role

 

We are looking for a Data Analyst to work alongside our Passenger Survey Lead supporting the survey methodologies, its customer base and supporting information technology (IT) infrastructure, including, technical support for the hardware and software, data management of reference material and data validation and supporting existing customers by delivering outputs and responding to data requests.  You will also be cross trained to support Business Delivery Analysts in our Shared Service Centre on the creation of effective data standards and working with the business to implement them.

 

Core Accountabilities

 

Technical Support

 

  • Maintaining accurate and up to date inventory of the passenger survey hardware
  • Conducting a full annual audit of tablets
  • Provide frontline IT support to the survey interview teams by troubleshooting and resolving issues
  • Support development, preparation, and deployment of database updates
  • Ensure best practice, process framework and CAA governance is applied and recommend opportunity for improvement

 

Data Management

 

  • Ensure all Passenger Survey reference material is up to date
  • Conduct annual review of reference data
  • Explore and develop additional data sources for the passenger survey data quality
  • Manage the validation systems and process which supports the Passenger Survey ensuring data sets meet expected levels of quality and quantity. This involves running existing validation routines and developing processes
  • Ensure the survey meets regulatory standards & defined performance criteria

 

Customer Management

 

  • Support delivery of annual survey plans with commercial entities including major UK airports and communicating with stakeholders such as CMG, DfT and ONS
  • Ensure Passenger Survey outputs and reports are distributed to customers within agreed SLA
  • Provide guidance and support to customers to maximise the usefulness of the survey data
  • To provide front-line response to ad hoc commercial data reporting services meeting external customer demands for Passenger Survey outputs
  • Ensure that all invoices covering survey income are raised on time
  • Support the development and delivery of new commercial opportunities
  • Work with internal support functions to ensure operational resilience and agility


About You

 

To be considered for the role you will need to have:

 

  • Excellent communication skills 
  • An extensive knowledge of IT systems, their design, documentation, development and uses, with hands-on experience of database and operating systems for e.g. SQL, Windows, Python, SharePoint
  • Familiarity with IT approach to systems testing & deployment 
  • Developed skills in the use of Excel/Access/PowerBI to interrogate and analyse data and use of different data visualisation tools to create insight
  • Ability to engage on and speak knowledgably, using data collated from relevant MI and BI teams
  • Demonstrable understanding of data quality considerations and solutions
  • Experience of working as part of an information management governance structure and reporting at all levels as required
  • Conceptual and logical data modelling (using suitable tools)
  • Technical knowledge of databases and their structure and experience of developing and implementing effective data standards

 

Additional Information

 

For many appointments within the CAA, these roles require access to operationally sensitive infrastructure and/or Nationally Protected information. For these roles the post holders must undergo National Security Vetting and achieve the appropriate level of clearance.
