Contract Role (12 Months)
We have partnered with a leading ecommerce business who are looking for a Data Architect, responsible for the design and implementation of the enterprise-wide Data Architecture strategy. This is an initial 12 month contract
Responsibilities of the Data Architect.
* Develop and implement a comprehensive Data Architecture strategy aligned with business goals and data-driven initiatives.
* Define the architecture principles, standards, and best practices for data collection, integration, storage, and utilisation.
* Be the SME on data infrastructure, working to understand business roadmaps and pro-actively working with all departments of the business to facilitate data changes
* Design and maintain data integration processes to enable seamless data flow across systems, including e-Commerce, point-of-sale (POS), CRM, supply chain, and marketing platforms.
* Create data management strategies, including data cataloguing, data lineage, and metadata management, to enhance data discoverability and usability.
* Collaboration and Communication:
* Collaborate with IT teams, data engineers, and data scientists to understand data requirements and ensure Data Architecture supports analytical and operational needs.
* Communicate Data Architecture principles and standards to stakeholders across the organization, fostering a shared understanding of data's importance.
* Monitor and optimize Data Architecture performance to ensure data is accessible, scalable, and meets the evolving needs of the business.
* Troubleshoot architecture issues and implement performance improvements in collaboration with the technical team.
Skills required for the Data Architect.
* Strong knowledge of data modelling, data integration, and data management principles and techniques.
* Experience in Data Architecture, preferably within the retail or e-commerce industry.
* Experience of architecting data solutions across hybrid (cloud, on-premise) data platforms.
* Knowledge of platforms such as Azure Machine Learning, Amazon SageMaker, Databricks, and DataRobot
* Proficiency in Data Architecture and modelling tools such as Erwin and IBM Data Architect
* Familiarity with data warehousing technologies, ETL processes, and data integration tools and supporting technologies such as Azure Data Factory, Data Lake, and other products.
* Understanding of data privacy and data protection regulations, including GDPR.
* Excellent communication and presentation skills, with the ability to convey complex technical concepts to non-technical stakeholders.
