Continuing VRM’s data led journey and recognising the importance the D&BI team performs in this regard, we are looking for a skilled Data Architect.
We are looking for a skilled architect who:
- is passionate about exploiting data
- drives solutions with a business value focussed mentality
- has both strategic and good level of hands on focus
- is comfortable working with varied non-technical and technical team members like business/end users, product owners, managers, heads of functions, project managers, scrum masters, engineering teams etc. Can lead, influence and drive collaboration across team members and stakeholders from various disciplines, resolve conflicts and can lead the build of practical and timely solutions that deliver value to the business
- can easily translate between business and technical speak without loss of substance and can tailor communication depending on target audience
- can architecturally drive, design, drive, support and expand VRM’s Data, BI and AI/ML systems to very high standards (short, medium and long term), using existing and new technologies. Ultimately ensuring VRM have the best systems and tools to be very data driven now and in the future. The role would cover end to architecture, especially systems, integration and information (data modelling) architecture
- can technically work closely and effectively work with the Tech Lead, Lead Data Engineer and Principal Architect, Data engineers and Software Engineers (Source App/OLTP)
- is skilled in the requirements gathering phase. Assists BAs, POs and business and provides guidance on the kind of requirements/information that needs to be gathered to build a successful technical solution/system
- can deep dive into requirements where appropriate, esp. for new and complex cases
- can deep dive technically where appropriate, esp. for new and complex cases
- can run design and technical forums and can represent the team, present and get approvals in various architectural and technical forums
- can be practical and ensure timely delivery while building re-usable patterns and solutions that are supportable and can be easily enhanced and also retain longer term strategic direction
- has good technical skills in the Oracle stack, Snowflake, AWS (key services), CICD and release/support practices and strategies
About You
- Solid understanding of data pipeline/ELT development, SQ, including performance tuning
- Experience and solid understanding of end-to-end Data Warehouse, Data Lake and BI design and delivery at scale (high level and detailed) and various architectural strategies
- Solid information architecture skills/experience: Data ingestions, and Data Warehouse and Data Lake modelling experience (Star Schema, Snowflake Schema, Data Vault etc.)
- Past hands-on development experience in at least one enterprise analytics database like Oracle/Terradata/SQL Server/Snowflake
- Basic understanding of AWS cloud and fundamental services like IAM, Lambda, S3 etc.
- Good understanding of data governance, data catalogue, data lineage and data security
- Experience of implementing data governance and good security practices for delivered solutions.
- Entry level ability to write and understand Python code esp. those using AWS boto3 APIs
- Good understanding of industry trends and best practice
Desirable
- In depth skills in: Snowflake, AWS, Python
- 3 years or more of development experience in building data warehouse and data pipelines
- Good understanding of MLOPS
- Good/In depth experience of Oracle stack – database, oracle analytics, ODI, Golden gate
- Good knowledge of common big data platforms and best practices
- Experience of working in an Agile environment
- Knowledge of Golden Gate, Oracle EBS, Hyperion, Essbase & SAS
