Role:Data Automation Lead
Department/Team:Data and Analytics

Role Objective

Mindshare is looking for a passionate data professional to continue to build our Data Automation function in the UK. Sitting within our wider Data & Analytics team, the role leads on Data Engineering and Business Intelligence, leading a team that creates and delivers a pipeline of work for our clients that helps enable clients to understand the impact of their media activations and optimise their investments. The role also leverages cloud technology to help transform the wider business by supporting on data centralisation and automation needs.

About the role

The Data Automation Lead will act as the SME for Business Intelligence and Data Engineering both within Mindshare and for our clients. The role oversees a team of BI Developers and Data Engineers developing dashboards and Data Automation solutions for our clients, with the aim of expanding on this work as we go into 2024. Supported by the Head of Data & Technology Services, the role will build a pipeline of new projects while overseeing delivery of existing work. Responsibilities will include:


  • Line management of the Data Automation team including projecting management, resourcing, hiring, coaching & mentoring.
  • Setting the standard for Business Intelligence at Mindshare UK, defining best-practices, creating case-studies, increasing visibility of our work internally and leading as the SME in the space.
  • Scoping new projects, consulting with clients to understand requirements, defining deliverables, working with the team to design the technical solution.
  • Project-management of existing work leveraging tools such as Jira and Confluence, acting as lead contact for clients in terms of escalations, being accountable for successful delivery.
  • Overseeing development and maintenance of Mindshare UK’s central data platform, capturing and curating the data critical to analytics outputs
  • Ensuring the team spend time on appropriate training and research & development work, both to upskill and to help develop our offering.
  • Ability to get stuck-in and assist with hands-on Data Engineering/BI work or technical mentoring to aid with strategic projects is a plus.

About you

The ideal candidate will have experience in advertising or media space, with an understanding of the role of data and the common data challenges & opportunities. Skills and experience will include:

  • Passion for solving problems driving success through data, excellent ‘data storyteller’ with the ability to contextualise data and turn it into actionable insight.
  • Team leadership of technical teams including developers and engineers, experience with project delivery methodologies such as Agile.
  • Client-facing experience including solutions design, with the ability to clearly define requirements, provide consultancy and avoid scope creep.
  • Experience of having worked hands-on in previous roles in data engineering and/or analytics, including with dashboarding tools such as Power BI, Tableau or similar.
  • Excellent project-management skills, with the ability to oversee multiple projects simultaneously and work through others to meet deadlines.
  • Experience creating and developing best practices around Data Engineering and Business Intelligence as well as contributing to product development in the space.
  • Good communication and presentation skills, with the ability to convey technical concepts to non-technical stakeholders.
