Job Description
This role involves providing customer support, installing and decommissioning hardware, conducting remote hands duties, and maintaining Data Centers. Responsibilities also include regular network checks, managing tickets, and participating in a 24/7 on-call rotation for various support functions. The role emphasizes a disciplined approach, adherence to ISO standards, and keeping Data Centers clean and presentable.
You must be experienced in data cabling and flexible to travel to other data centers if required. It will be predominantly based at the Hendon site.
Responsibilities:
- Setting up servers, networks, and storage hardware with the necessary cables and patches.
- Handle cable and patching tasks for different client needs using both copper and fiber.
- Uninstall hardware, ready it for shipping, and coordinate with third-party couriers.
- Carry out remote hand tasks in Data Centers, such as power cycling equipment, re-seating network cards, replacing faulty hardware components, and testing cabling.
- Conduct routine inspections for network activity, and firewall status, and identify errors using LED alerts or system monitoring tools.
- Conduct audits on client cabling and hardware, generating necessary documentation.
- Collaborate closely with internal and external client teams to assist in diagnosing and resolving incidents across various technologies.
- Function as a host providing access to visitors attending our clients' Data Centers.
- Uphold a consistently professional and disciplined approach when working within client Data Centers.
- Ensure compliance with ISO 9001, ISO 27001, ISO 20000, and ITIL standards, as well as best practices.
- Oversee and handle access, remote hands, and delivery tickets for co-location clients and internal operations.
- Demonstrate proficiency in the local policies and procedures of our third-party Data Centre providers.
- Ensure the Data Centers maintain a clean and presentable condition at all times.
- Gain an understanding of basic support functions within the Data Centre with a view to progressing into other roles within the Data Centre and the wider business.
- Take part in a 24/7/365 on-call rotation to offer support for client access at Data Centers, client migrations, smart hands requests, installations for managed hosted clients, scheduled maintenance/upgrades for managed hosting, infrastructure upgrades, circuit down/faults, and any other tasks designated as out-of-hours internally or by our clients.
Qualifications
- Must satisfy SC and BPSS security clearance vetting and approval requirements.
- Previous experience in a similar role is beneficial but not mandatory.
- Capable of working effectively under pressure.
- A full UK Driving License and a personal car are essential for this role.
- Demonstrates a logical approach to troubleshooting, problem-solving, and fault diagnosis.

Working days & Hours:Monday-Friday, rotating shifts, early shift 0600-14:30, middle shift 10:00-18:30, late shift 14:30-23:00
