We are on the search for a Data Engineer, preferable experienced on Google Cloud Platform (GCP) and Modern Data Stack concepts and tools to join our growing team of data and analytics experts. The hire will be responsible for optimising, maintaining, and expanding our end-to-end data platform, based on a cutting-edge technology data architecture – from the data ingestion, transformation, and delivery in our lakehouse for a team of data analysts and scientists.

The role requires understanding of data architecture and modern data stack concepts, fully cloud-based, focused on Data Engineering, performance, and pricing optimisation. The ideal candidate is a skilled person with experience creation of data pipelines for ingestion (using tools such as Airbyte/Fivetran or APIs), data transformation with dbt, code management using git, Kubernetes, orchestration, and infrastructure deployment with Terraform (nothing done by UI in PRD). Also, being able to define and manage their tasks using Agile methodologies with Scrum and Kanban.

How will you make an impact?

  • Responsible for maintaining and optimising our data architecture in GCP, looking after our tools and processes, in GKE (Google Kubernetes Engine) - and hosted applications, such as Airbyte, dbt, Airflow, ArgoCD, Terraform, Metabase and Datahub, code and tasks management by Azure DevOps and GitLab.
  • Working together to a Team of data analysts and scientists to identify new required data sources for business needs, creating and implementing a plan for data ingestion from 3rd party applications to our lakehouse.
  • Support our data science team in web scrapings to collect and store raw data into our Data Warehouse.
  • Identify optimisation opportunities in our end-to-end data pipelines, such as partitioning tables and Change Data Capture (CDC), aiming to improve the efficiency / cost benefit of our jobs/queries in our data warehouse in Google Big Query.
  • Work together to Watchfinder and Richemont IT and IAM teams to assure the proper following of our Compliance, Data Governance and Cyber-Security practices.
  • Identify, design, and implement internal process improvements for automating manual activities, optimizing data delivery, re-designing infrastructure for greater scalability, when needed.

How will you experience success with us?

  • Experience in a Data Engineering, focused on modern data stack concepts.
  • Experience in working with cloud architecture, preferable GCP.
  • Proficient coding skills, mainly using Python and SQL; for relational databases. NoSQL for semi-structured data would also be appreciated.
  • Experience in building and optimising data pipelines using Airflow and dbt.
  • Experience in performing root cause analysis for issues that may occur in the mentioned data architecture, to answer business questions and identify opportunities for improvement.
  • Familiarised with Agile/Scrum methodologies for team and tasks management.
