Data Engineer – Remote / Flexible working 
12 Month Fixed Term Contract 

Job Title: Data Engineer

Contract: 12 month FTC

Working Hours: 37 hours per week, part time hours may be considered 

Salary: £43,421 – £46,464 

Location: Kelvedon Park, Service HQ – Hybrid Working 

Closing Date: 7th April 2024 
 
The Role  

We are committed about getting the right people into our team to ensure that we actively contribute to delivering our Service Priorities. This role does not require you to be in the office 5 days a week, although you can if you want to. We are open to flexible working patterns to ensure that the job fits into your life. 
 
Do you have a passion for data? An opportunity has arisen for a Data Engineer to work as part of Performance and Analytics team within Essex County Fire and Rescue Service.  

Working with our Azure environment to deliver accurate, timely and purposeful data models that enables our colleagues to make data and evidence driven decisions, targeting their activities to those areas of our communities most at risk to harm.  

The role involves various aspects of Data Engineering including creating data models, data warehousing, ingestion, ELT/ETL, ad hoc reporting and re-evaluation of work packages.  You will need strong communication skills and be able to produce clear and legible documentation and code that is logical and reusable. Experience of using of being a Data Engineer is essential. Must be flexible to use multiple technologies and coding languages.

Previous experience in a senior analyst/Data Engineer role with evidence of managing analysis/engineering data and projects. 

Experience of managing changing priorities and situations.

Expert level of interpersonal and negotiation skills, able to communicate professionally and tactfully to build constructive relationships. 

Advanced proficiency presenting to senior audiences of varying technical understanding.
