Job description
We are looking for an enthusiastic Data Engineer/data scientist with an interest and/ or experience in data science regardless of their training background (e.g. epidemiology, statistics, mathematics, engineering, physics). The role will be to conduct and support collaborative research, extracting knowledge and insights from health datasets using a variety of approaches including but not limited to statistical, epidemiological, mathematical. Additionally, the role may involve the development of software and code to implement these analyses in robust and reproducible ways. You should have experience with working with large scale data sets and within these are able to curate, map where necessary, build processes and reusable pipelines preparing data for analyses. You will have the opportunity to carry out analyses within these data sets which are all aimed at improving human health either through influencing policy or experimental and data science. We work with a variety of data sets to which you would apply your knowledge which include but are not limited to genetic data, electronic health record data, as well as linking individual research data sets to routine health data. Experience in health data science is desired although if you have worked in other fields with the requisite data experience please do apply. The post is for one year in the first instance.
