Northamptonshire Police and Northamptonshire Fire and Rescue service, have a joint data, analysis and insight function that help colleagues in both organisations understand what is working well and where additional focus is needed. Part of this team is to ensure our management and reporting of data is accurate, on time and supporting decision making. This is for both internal and external audiences.
The Data Management Officer is central to the provision of data to identify risks and track performance. It uses a range of data querying tools and reporting mechanisms including Excel, to conduct regular returns to central government as well as exploring new data and business questions and identifying reporting solutions. Application of descriptive statistics is a regular occurrence and this role is a great starting point for any budding analyst as it will give you the ground work and understanding of police data that you can take forward to other roles. Successful candidates will be comfortable talking to a range of stakeholders to understand the processes that generate the data as well as how to best extract from core systems.
