LISTENING AND SPEAKING - INTERMEDIATE LEVEL
Able to maintain a fluent conversation on a number of various everyday subjects,and discuss cases involving the field of work.
Able to follow a discussion in Welsh, in Clear Welsh, on familiar matters relating to the post. Able to contribute to the conversation and answer questions.
READING AND COMPREHENSION - INTERMEDIATE LEVEL
Understand everyday correspondence on familiar issues at work.
Understand longer reports in Clear Welsh and be able to pick up the main points. (help may be required with the vocabulary).
WRITING - INTERMEDIATE LEVEL
Able to write letters for a specific purpose, e-mails and short reports in Welsh and English, using vocabulary and simple phrases that are familiar to the field of work. (They will need to be checked before being sent out).
Purpose of the Post
- Receive experiences and support in the workplace to complete an apprenticeship and to gain qualifications in the field of Data, Information Technology
- To contribute as a team member within the Development Service, Information Technology to provide a service to improve the Council's understanding of the data and those projects outlined in the Digital Plan to the Council's departments

Main Duties
Overview
The Council's Digital Plan sets out a long-term vision for digital services and how digital can enrich and make our services more efficient. One of the areas expected to grow the most is the data field. The experience of working with us while studying will be extremely useful towards your degree study, and put you in a great position to develop a career in the field. In a rapidly evolving field, the need to develop IT domain experts is vital to ensuring that we respond to the needs of the people of Gwynedd in innovative ways. This can include areas such as –
- Programme
- Web Technologies
- Databases
- Data analysis
- Data processing and presentation

Here is an overview of the main duties of the job:
Provide input into new ideas and identify efficiencies by identifying how the Service can create improvements, improve customer care or create new opportunities
Play a role in making decisions as ensuring that elements of projects are completed on time, within budget and to expected standards
Have the opportunity to provide input into policy development, new procedures and business planning
Contribute towards ensuring that performance targets and improvement measurements are achieved, or exceeded,
Develop clear and understandable project specifications
Use problem-solving skills to ensure innovative solutions are used
Work across Council departments and help to realise specific steps of improving the Council's understanding of those data and projects outlined in the Digital Plan to reform our arrangements of collecting, reporting and analysing our data
Develop a number of basic mathematical skills needed for data analysis and the ethics and legal requirements of data collection.
