Data Analyst



Role


The Data Analyst is responsible for analyzing and resolving data quality issues to ensure our clients have a high-quality data experience.

Initial focus is to support multiple reference data projects, as we introduce additional sources of data to our reference data suite. The goal of the projects is to ensure that common data is utilized across our enterprise, so that clients have a seamless data entry and reporting experience.

The data analyst will work closely with the data engineering team, analyzing data sets to ensure data integrity within the flow of the applications.

Once the project is complete ongoing support will be needed to assist with client onboarding and data quality support.


Responsibilities:

  • Analyze the data sources used within our applications for security, entity, and quote identifiers
  • Analyze the use of security types and industry classifications across the enterprise and provide recommendations for best practice
  • Analyze results of data quality checks to ensure data values remain at high quality (pricing, key reference data fields)
  • Create and analyze adhoc reporting requests
  • Work with our Business Intelligence developer to enhance our dashboard and reporting for clients
  • Maintain inventory of data issues in a format that allows data engineers to update our database, with strong change management to ensure updates are controlled and complete
  • Research and obtain further information for incomplete source material as required.
  • Keep information confidential and comply with data integrity/security policies.
  • Work alongside other teams and colleagues to resolve issues.
  • Become a subject matter expert regarding our datasets


Skills, Knowledge and Experience


Essential:


  • Ability to identify and analyze inconsistencies, duplication, and errors, resolve to root cause and provide resolutions in a timely manner.
  • Proven data analyst work experience with large data sets
  • Must be able to write complex queries in SQL for data extraction and analysis
  • Excellent skills using Microsoft Excel
  • Structured thinking and problem-solving capabilities
  • Ability to work to deadlines, multi-task and prioritize workload.
  • Organization skills, with an ability to stay focused on assigned tasks.
  • Enthusiastic team player with a flexible attitude.
  • Self-motivated with a can-do attitude
  • Excellent Written and verbal communication skills


Desirable:

  • Knowledge of financial securities (equities, derivatives and fixed income asset classes)
  • Knowledge of financial markets
  • Experience of working in an Agile environment
  • Experience of using Python for querying and/or processing data
