Job description

As we progress our Frontline Digitisation Program(FD) we have created an exciting opportunity for an interim Data Warehouse Architect(DWA) to work alongside the substantive DWA as we further develop our Data Warehouse into the Azure Cloud environment.
As the Data Warehouse Architect, you will be responsible for setting the direction and providing leadership to the Data Warehouse, data management, business intelligence and data interoperability. You will promote innovation and champion the development of a culture that realizes the value of enterprise Data Warehouse across the Trust. Monitoring best practice in data acquisition, process workflows, information requirements and standards and lead the Data Warehouse of best practice within the organisation.
To work alongside the substantive Data Warehouse architect to plan, deploy, maintain and monitor progress of the Frontline Digitisation.
Be a key individual for the development of Data Warehouse services across the Trust to enable the implementation of effective Business Intelligence.
Lead the development of architectural principles and ensure compliance with governance activities associated with the organisation’s architecture for the Data Warehouse and Business Intelligence tools.
Deliver aspects of the Business Intelligence data strategy
Responsible for the analysis of highly complex and sensitive data within the Data Warehouse and the investigation of new data sources.
Share day-to-day responsibility of supervision an expanding Data Engineering team

  • Act as technical, strategic, and architectural lead for the team responsible for building and developing the Data Warehouse, providing expertise in acquiring and managing data for business systems.
  • Lead the development of architectural principles and ensure compliance with governance activities associated with the organisation’s architecture for the Data Warehouse.
  • Deliver aspects of the Business Intelligence data strategy; responsible for the strategic development of the skill set, delivery of service innovation and implementation of new ways of working to drive improved data management.
  • Lead individual for the development of Data Warehouse services across the Trust to enable the implementation of effective Business Intelligence.
  • Responsible for the analysis of highly complex and sensitive data within the Data Warehouse and the investigation of new data sources.
  • Ensure Data Warehouse security is designed, developed, implemented and maintained in line with recognised best practice.
  • Lead the monitoring and optimisation of the performance of the Data Warehouse systems and the accuracy of the reported data.
  • Responsibility for efficient functioning of the Data Warehouse and BI, and ensuring that security protections are appropriate and up to date.
  • Line manage, motivate and lead Data Engineers and BI developer colleagues to capture business data needs.
  • Undertake recruitment and selection in line with organisational processes and participate in the implementation and delivery of initiatives to secure suitable resources, increase skills levels and develop talent pools to meet the changing needs of the business landscape.
  • Seeking, providing and taking feedback to support and encourage teams and individuals to develop thinking and independently work through issues, to reach solutions-based outcomes. Taking full accountability for the approach and decision-making practices within area, including providing positive challenge to ideas and solutions.
  • Champion, communicate, and take personal ownership of the team’s success criteria, and establish measures and targets to drive performance in alignment with the departments goals
  • Utilize highly functioning communication skills to encourage collaborative client and customer focused approaches.
  • Work with business service streams and shared services across the Trust to understand, interpret and analyse operational processes in order that delivery of service improvement opportunities requiring improved data management are prompt, agile and deliver a great customer experience.
  • Participate in the selection, delivery and testing of technology across the full product lifecycle; obtain knowledge of technology offerings in the marketplace through horizon scanning.
  • Contribute to and prepare proposals for change including producing necessary estimates, mandates and business cases within the Informatics team.
  • Actively participate and be the decision maker in procurement processes for full solutions that meet business needs.
  • Undertake additional duties and responsibilities in line with the overall purpose of your role and as agreed by your line manager.
