Data Engineer Contract Role Cork, Ireland

My Client is looking for an experienced Data Engineer to join their team. Successful candidates need to be onsite 3 days a week in Cork, Ireland and must be eligible to work in Ireland.

The Role:

• On our team you will build solutions that integrate open source software with internal ecosystem.

• Drive development of new components and features from concept to release: design, build, test, and ship at a regular cadence.

• Work closely with internal customers to understand their requirements and workflows, and propose new features and ecosystem changes to streamline their experience of using the solutions on our platform.

• This is a hands-on software/data engineering role, where a large part of an engineer's time is spent in writing code and designing/developing applications on cloud, with the remainder being spent on tuning and debugging codebase, supporting production applications and working directly with application end-users.

Have you:

• Bachelor's degree in Computer Science or equivalent experience

• 4+ years experience building enterprise level applications on large-scale distributed systems

• Understanding of fundamentals of object-oriented design, data structures, algorithm design, and problem solving

• Programming experience in building high quality software. Proficiency in at-least one of the following programming languages - Python, Scala, PHP or Java.

• Cloud technology experience on platforms like AWS, Microsoft Azure, Google Cloud

• Hands-on experience in design and development of cloud-based applications ( including large scale compute services, database services, APIs, ETL such as Airflow, Nifi, Talend.)

• Demonstrated knowledge and experience in Software Engineering processes, including test driven development

• Passionate about data and its nuances and curious about the underlying business context

• Strong SQL experience and proficient with SQL/NoSQL Data-warehouses such as Snowflake, Singlestore, Oracle, Mysql, Mongodb

• Good Data Visualisation experience with the likes of Tableau, Thoughtspot, Looker, PowerBI, etc.

• Knowledge of Big Data Processing and Systems with Apps such as Hadoop, Spark, Kafka

• Understanding of ML and OR concepts and models.
