Debt and Money Adviser, North (Homebased)

As part of the ongoing commitment to supporting our customers through the Cost of Living Crisis Sovereign Network Group (SNG) invests in a Customer Support Fund to provide additional services. This allows us to deliver grants for customers, energy support, job coaching, money coaching and Money and debt advice.

As part of our Debt Advice Team you'll have the opportunity to join a business that puts customers at the heart of everything we do and help shape one of the largest programmes being delivered to support people through the cost of living crisis.

This role is offered on a fixed term basis until March 2025.

It will follow our hybrid working approach of home, office and some home visits.

The starting salary is £32,000 - £34,500 depending on experience and qualifications.

The Role:

You'll be providing a comprehensive Debt and Money Advice to our customers on a day-to-day basis, taking a holistic view of their individual debts and financial circumstances.

You'll be working closely with some of our established teams and also our newly created roles to deliver a connected support service tailored to our customers. Ultimately supporting them to sustain their tenancies and improve their financial situation.

Key responsibilities:

• Deliver accurate and up to date Debt Advice/Money Guidance within the constraints of FCA guidelines
• Assist residents to prepare financial statements
• Take a proactive and explorative approach to obtaining and understanding information
• Assist residents by working with them to truly understand their financial position and identifying ways in which this can be improved
• Negotiate with third parties, including statutory and non-statutory organisations where required
• Prepare and present cases to the necessary statutory bodies and negotiate with third parties as appropriate
• Ascertain and understand a holistic picture of a customer's wants, needs and desires as well as any complexities. Assist them by identifying and referring to other advisers/agencies
• Provide advice and signposting towards, training or employment, linking up with internal and external specialists to assist
• Maintain accurate records of cases, in line with policy, procedure and legislation

Your experience:

To be considered for this role, you'll need:

A MaPs Accredited Debt Advice Qualification to Specialist/Caseworker Level (Institute of Money Advisers Certificate of Money Advice or Community Money Advice Level 4 Award in Debt Advice) or; a drive and motivation to complete such a qualification.

Recent or current experience working in a similar role, providing advice, information and guidance

The ability to build rapport with great people, communication, and engagement skills

A proactive approach, with the ability to manage multiple cases at once
