DEFENCE ARCHITECT / DEFENCE CONSULTANT

NEW PERMANENT OPPORTUNITY AVAILABLE FOR A DEFENCE CONSULTANT IN MANCHESTER WORKING WITH A LEADING CONSULTANCY ON GOVERNMENT PROJECTS

  • Up to £100,000+ per year depending on experience accompanied by a large training/certification budget.

We are recruiting a Defence Consultant for a global market-leading consultancy in Manchester to work on National Security and Defence projects. We work across a range of industries, supporting both small and large clients using cutting-edge technology. WHAT WILL THE DEFENCE CONSULTANT BE DOING?

  • Support the creation of strategic digital design principles.
  • Use your experience to architect the digital delivery programme to meet exacting standards and timelines.
  • Act as an inspiring people manager by creating a positive working environment with maximum learning opportunities for your team, which comes from multiple NATO nations.
  • Manage projects from the inception phase to their final implementation and closure, by translating client's business problems into Digital Transformation solutions.
  • Establish long-term positive relationships with NATO representatives and other third parties working on Digital Transformation programmes. Build cross-functional relationships within NATO and alliance countries.
  • Regularly engage outside of NATO to ensure digital transformation programmes are bringing the latest thinking and technology from across the alliance.
  • Provide strategic advice and recommendations to Senior NATO International Staff and Senior representatives, both military and political, from member nations.
  • Demonstrate leadership in technology and related innovation fields relevant to ICT capabilities and services.
  • Ensures ongoing support for digital innovation, supporting the Digital transformation of NATO in accordance with NATO 2030 ambition.
  • Develop strong relations with industry and academia as well as other relevant multinational bodies in the science and technology domain.
  • Ability to share best practices and subject matter expertise across the Alliance in all emerging technology areas
  • Ensure that the projects, programme and team meet objectives through successful preparation for and execution of digital transformation concepts
  • Ensures financial accountability and cost-effective execution for the assigned portfolio, programmes, projects
  • Leads, plans, directs and supervises the work of the Team. Coach, and mentor assigned staff members.

THE DEFENCE CONSULTANT SHOULD HAVE….

  • Experience in developing IT capability and technology roadmaps and providing solutions to a client that transforms their customer experience e.g., digital solutions.
  • Demonstratable experience in a client-facing, consulting role which incorporated managing projects, work streams or teams.
  • Previous experience at a Consulting organisation, including business development of your key industry and skill focus.
  • Current NATO Cosmic clearance
  • Recent experience working in a NATO Digital environment
  • Experience in multi-lateral requirement development for digital programmes.
  • Ability to work across multiple sites including Belgium, Netherlands, Italy and the UK
  • Programme or project management in a technology environment. Experience in software development ideally with TOPFAS or C++ and/or C#.
  • An understanding of the fundamentals of software development in Java, TypeScript, JavaScript and/or Python, along with good overall engineering patterns and practices and being able to explain these clearly.
  • Demonstrable experience and understanding of working in teams, particularly in agile methodologies such as Scrum & Kanban
