Degree Apprenticeship in Quantity Surveying

Here's what you'll be doing

As part of the five-year Degree Apprenticeship inQuantity Surveying, you will have the opportunity to gain practical, hands-on experience working with a variety of teams through six-month placements across the business. As an apprentice, you will be employed by E.ON but will study part-time at Sheffield Hallam University for a fully-funded BSc (Hons) degree in Professional Practice in Quantity Surveying.

You will have the opportunity to select placements to suit your interests and skills, examples include:

• Developing and delivering sustainable engineering projects to decarbonise cities;
• Collaborating with and supporting key clients and the supply chain to ensure ongoing, efficient and best value propositions are maintained;
• Appraising and valuing works in a myriad of engineering disciplines;
• Pioneering innovative technologies like hydrogen, heat pumps, and carbon capture.

Throughout your time on the programme, you will be fully supported at E.ON by the early careers talent team, your mentor and a dedicated buddy from a previous Degree Apprenticeship scheme.

• 5 GCSEs or equivalent, including Grade 4 or above in English Language and Grade 5 or above in Maths. 
• 3 A-Levels, including at least a grade B in A-level Maths and two additional A levels at grade B (or equivalent). Additional A-levels which will not be accepted are citizenship skills, general studies and critical thinking. A preceding level apprenticeship or equivalent demonstrable work experience in the occupation area can be reviewed on a case-by-case basis. 

• Your primary workplace will be our Nottingham office, embracing a hybrid working model. After your first two years on the programme, for development reasons we may encourage you to consider basing yourself at one of our operational sites in the UK, which at present include Sheffield and London. Depending on your placements, you could be expected to work in the office between 1-3 days a week, with the flexibility to work from home on other days (however, this will depend upon the placement). Company-funded travel will be required, and you may have placement opportunities at other E.ON sites across the UK.  
• This apprenticeship leads to a BSc (Hons) in Professional Practice in Quantity Surveying from Sheffield Hallam University. Your academic journey will involve day release, meaning you will spend one day per week (for around 24 weeks each year) on the university’s city campus.
• We offer an initial starting salary of £19,350, with potential pay progressions throughout the scheme based on academic and placement performance.
