Salary: GBP52,000 - GBP60,000 depending on relevant skills, knowledge, and experience. The expected salary range for this role reflects internal benchmarking and external market insights.

Job Purpose
We are looking for a Delivery Manager to join our Children's & Education Delivery team and grow our community of delivery specialists at the BBC. Our delivery community is part of the BBC's Product Group responsible for the design, development, and delivery of the BBC's diverse portfolio of digital products.
Within BBC's Children's & Education (Bitesize), our enthusiastic, diligent, and supportive multi-disciplinary agile teams, all strive, to deliver safe, fun, and educational digital experiences that inform, entertain, and inspire young people.
As a Delivery Manager in this department, you will work with one or more of our agile teams, applying the most appropriate delivery processes & standards to support and empower these multi-functional teams to design, build, maintain and enhance our product portfolio towards desired outcomes.
In this role, you will also be given the opportunity to manage some 3rd party projects, as our delivery team also work on a significant portfolio of Children's & Education Games & CBeebies Apps project(s), using a sequential methodology, with support from a range of 3rd party suppliers and our Editorial team.

Key Responsibilities

  • Responsible for maintaining delivery momentum and managing blockers, risks, dependencies, and impediments to progress.
  • Accountable for applying the most appropriate agile delivery methodology/standards, as needed to deliver a successful outcome.
  • Creates an environment where continuous improvements of teams' working practices can happen, including measuring success, inspecting, and adapting.
  • Responsible for facilitating healthy team dynamics. Ensuring the team is collaborative and communicating effectively with each other.
  • Develop and maintain productive & collaborative relationships with internal & external stakeholders, using effective communication strategies.
  • Leads continuous planning practices and ensures work is visible and there is an iterative plan to work towards that is actively communicated & understood by the team(s) and stakeholders.
  • Leveraging sequential project management methodologies, manage multiple 3rd party projects, within agreed tolerances levels.
  • With support from the BBC's Legal & Procurement team(s), create and manage 3rd party contracts throughout the lifecycle of the project(s).
  • Work with Business and Production mgmt. team(s) to ensure 3rd party payment milestones are processed in a timely manner.
  • Ensure high quality outputs are achieved by working collaboratively with test engineering teams to manage the issue triage & resolution processes proficiently.
  • Actively participate in the wider agile delivery management community - learning, sharing, and applying skills and knowledge to improve.

Are you the right candidate?
To be successful in this role, you will:

  • Have extensive understanding & experience of applying the most appropriate agile & sequential project management methodologies / frameworks to a range of project(s).
  • Be adept at breaking down barriers for your teams with the ability to plan at a higher level and get into the detail to make things happen when needed.
  • Know how to build a culture of psychological safety in teams and can actively manage team dynamics to build high performing team(s).
  • Have proven experience in leading, building and motivating effective internal and / or external development project team(s), and able to influence, bridge specialisms and navigate ambiguity.
  • Be able to mediate between individuals to successful outcomes ensuring a team is collaborating and communicating well with each other.
  • Have proven experience of working collaboratively with multiple 3rd parties to deliver digital products, within agreed project thresholds.
  • Have experience in managing multiple 3rd party projects; leading Procurement(s) end-to-end and managing 3rd party contracts, with support from Commercial, Legal & Procurement functions.
  • Be adept at working to tight deadlines, and able to adapt to changing priorities and/or direction.
  • Be a team player and active listener who can give clear, actionable feedback, allowing you to build trust and motivate everyone to work towards a common goal.
