Position: Contract
Location: Hinkley Point C

Duration: CED 31/12/2014 rolling 12 months thereafter

Day Rate: £350 - £420 PAYE / £480 - £550 Umbrella

Are you ready to make your mark on a pioneering nuclear project? We invite you to become a crucial part of the Hinkley Point C (HPC) site construction team as a Delivery Risk Lead. This role offers a unique opportunity to contribute to the development of two major EPR nuclear plants, driving innovation, sustainability, and excellence in construction.

Role Overview

To lead the definition of HPC's Policy and Strategy for Delivery Risk for the HPC Project, including responsibility for and oversight of Risks, staffing and the implementation of required Delivery Risk standards and processes.

The Delivery Risk Management Lead will report into the Delivery Risk Assurance Manager and lead a team of staff within the risk function responsible for supporting the PMs in coordinating the identification and management of uncertainty across the HPC project.

Your role as a Construction Delivery Manager is essential in ensuring consistent project delivery while upholding safety, quality, and deadlines.

Key Responsibilities

  • Drive greater efficiencies in our operation by challenging our ways of working, the required information, and the means of communication. Ensuring we harness fully the benefits of our systems implemented within IPC.
  • Collaborating with other key functions on HPC in respect of data and analysis.
  • Leading and driving an integrated project controls approach into the Delivery Risk function
  • Responsible for the supporting the development of risk competency within the Function;
  • Lead Delivery risk management training so that project teams are proficient in the use and application of HPC processes and analytical tools and actively promote the awareness and application of Delivery Risk management across the organisation, helping to establish a pro-active risk management culture throughout the project.
  • Accountable for governing and leading the implementation of HPC Delivery Risk management processes to enable the timely and regular transfer of accurate and coherent information into the relevant schedule and performance reports;
  • Provide timely and reliable assessment of risk exposure across the delivery directorate, working with the Cost function to support the requirements of the financial forecasting process
  • Continuously review the effectiveness of the Delivery Risk management processes to confirm that the approach to risk assessment is consistent with leading practice and identify and implement measures to improve performance where appropriate

Qualifications & Experience

Essential

  • Substantial experience (5+ years) in Risk function on major infrastructure projects and programme; Nuclear experience desirable but not essential;
  • Educated to at least degree level, or equivalent training and experience;
  • Numerate degree in Engineering or Quantity Surveying or Construction Management preferred and risk certification highly desirable (IRM, APM);
  • Extensive skill and experience in presenting complex information to senior executives and shareholders;
  • Experience of developing estimates and budgets for major infrastructure programmes;
  • Technical and practical comprehension of engineering, procurement and construction methods and techniques;
  • In-depth knowledge of the applicable EDF work processes and systems;
  • Knowledge and experience in supervisory procedures and practices;
  • Knowledge in the use of technology for executing work processes;
  • Proficient in Microsoft software applications currently being used (Word, Excel, Access, PowerPoint, and Microsoft Project);
  • Knowledge of current risk / opportunities management practices;
  • Skilled in oral and written communication with demonstrated ability to present estimating information to peers and management.

  • Safran (QSRA) (Risk)
  • Trend Change Register (TCR) (Change Control)
  • Industry recognised Business Intelligence (BI) tools (Reporting)
  • CEMAR (Commercial)
  • Documentum (Document Control)
  • Integrated Management System (IMS)

Desirable

  • Experience in high-security environments or large Civil Engineering/Building/MEH projects.
  • Familiarity with the nuclear environment.

  • Data Literacy: Ability to communicate, work with and read about data in context.
