Job Role

We’re recruiting a qualified and experienced Functional Skills Tutor to support our learners to fulfil their potential and encourage them towards further training or employment, and facilitate their personal, social, and educational development by delivering English, Maths and IT Skills. Our successful candidate will have PTTLS or equivalent, and minimum of  L2 Functional Skills in English/Maths and ICT and have experience of working with adult learners and have outstanding communication skills both written and verbal.  

In return for your dedication, knowledge, and commitment, we offer a competitive salary between £24,325 and £28,625pro rata per annum (dependent on experience) with these great benefits:

Key Responsibilities

  • Coach, guide and support learners and their employers in the effective achievement of the Functional Skills Individual Learning Programme and progression planning in a virtual classroom with groups and or 121.
  • Effectively interpret initial assessments and diagnostics to assess learners capability, suitability and their engagement to ensure timely achievements are met, including retention and achievement targets, knowledge of BKSB would be desirable
  • Design and implement an Individual Learning Plan with each learner. Regularly assess, monitor, review, evaluate and adjust the Individual Learning Plan as necessary. 
  • Prepare and review session plans and schemes of work related to Functional Skills Maths & English,
  • Plan and deliver quality teaching sessions through remote delivery for both groups and 1-2-1 individual support. 
  • Identify individual support needs and work closely with ALN/SEN support colleagues to ensure learner needs are met.

Skills and Experience

  • Working towards or holds PTLLS or equivalent teaching qualification
  • Minimum L2 Functional Skills English and Maths
  • Proven experience of engaging hard to reach learners.
  • Experience of initial and diagnostic assessment tools.
  • Experience of delivery in the classroom and the workplace to young learners and adults.
