Job description

"Join a consumer goods company who are going through a period of transformation - if you’re looking for a role where you’d like to introduce new ways of working and make a measurable difference, this is it."

THE COMPANY

A consumer goods company with products available to buy on the high-street and online. Their supply chain is a combination of third-party suppliers in Europe and the Far East plus company-owned manufacturing in China and the UK (each with their own supply chains managed by separate teams in-country). The business is doing great and is investing in their people and systems as part of their transformation / business improvement program.

The business has created this role and invested in a new ERP system with the aim of improving their planning and inventory management of finished goods, to get a better overview of their stock and demand as their inventory is currently managed using outdated systems and their aged stock levels are higher than they would like. The new ERP system (Sage X3) rollout is about to start and will be fully integrated into the business within the year.

The role manages a small team of experienced Inventory Controllers/Demand Planners and reports into a down to earth Head of Ops and Planning who has your back and can give you as much or as little support as you need to help you settle in and be successful in the role. The team works alongside other departments including Buying / Procurement, Warehouse, Sales/National Accounts, and Finance.

THE ROLE

  • You will be the crucial link between demand forecasting, supply planning, logistics and other departments to ensure optimal availability and cost efficiency
  • Managing a small team of experienced Planners - engaging with them to help them adapt to new ways of working in the business
  • Reviewing and maintaining inventory levels and product availability in line with guidelines and targets
  • Analysing and monitoring stock performance, considering both regular and ad hoc stock
  • Advising on adjustments to the replenishment plan, defining priorities and necessary actions for shortages or overstocks
  • Investigating and reporting on any stock / sales discrepancies
  • Ensuring thorough follow-up of the replenishment plan for regular products, product launches, promotions, discontinued stock, and other specific activities, and communicating inventory reliability to key stakeholders
  • Representing Supply Chain to the wider business with a focus on daily requirements and meetings
  • Monitor all stock shipments, ensuring timely delivery to the warehouse and customers. Analyse KPI data to track performance against agreed lead times.

ABOUT YOU

To be successful in this role you will need experience of working in a finished goods Supply Chain Management / Planning Manager role or similar with a good understanding of Demand Planning. You will have good people management skills and have experience of managing others and introducing new ways of working or managing change. Similar job titles include Supply Chain Manager, Demand Planning Manager, Planning Manager, Inventory Manager, or similar.

THE REWARD

The company works on a home/office hybrid split of 3 days office, 2 home and additional flexibility with start/finish times (ideal if you’re a night owl, early riser or need to be available for pick-ups or drop-offs). They run charity initiatives and volunteering days you can choose to get involved with too. They’re a very people-focused business with a lovely culture where people stay for a long time and a business that is continually investing in their people and infrastructure. If you’re looking for a role where you’d like to introduce new systems and ways of working and the opportunity to make measurable change within a business, this would be a great option for you.
