Job description

We are seeking an experienced Democratic Services Officer who is proactive and self motivated to join our small hard working team managing the Council's democratic processes.
In this role you will support a range of decision-making, committee and panel meetings. Your responsibilities will include following established processes for the production of agendas and minutes of meetings, along with providing advice to councillors and officers on established procedures. You will demonstrate strong written and verbal communication skills for working with councillors and officers at all levels from across the organisation.
You must have the ability to interpret and explain complex guidance and be confident in providing advice to a range of audiences including councillors, officers and the public in a range of settings. Attention to detail is essential and the ability to work to deadlines and manage a varied workload. The role requires taking responsibility for areas of work, while also working as part of a supportive team.
Experience and knowledge of NHS structures, including Integrated Care Boards, and the role of Police and Crime Panels would be advantageous. Experience of Microsoft O365 software is required including SharePoint and Teams, and the ability to learn the use of other software used to support the democratic process, such as Modern.Gov.
The role provides the opportunity to experience working at the heart of the County Council and gain an understanding of the variety of services the County Council provides, with exposure to a political environment.
What Can We Offer You:
