Job Advert
Our school roll is currently 476 pupils with 15 classes across Primary 1-7 and 80 children in our ELC Class. The school leadership structure is currently a Headteacher, Depute Headteacher and two Principal Teachers. The school works closely with the Parent Council and has an active Parents’ Association (PAWS).
Our school catchment spans the villages of Brightons, Reddingmuirhead and Wallacestone. Our contextual analysis shows our school serves a school roll where around 14% live in SIMD decile 3-5 and around 80% within 8-10. 8% of our pupils in Primary 6-7 are entitled to free school meals. Our approaches to supporting and challenging pupils are an important part of our thinking about curriculum, learning and teaching and children’s wellbeing. We strive to see our pupils as individuals and think about what matters to them and their families. This is supported by our nuanced approach to reducing the poverty related attainment gap and our use of Realising the Ambition to think about the spaces, experiences and interactions our children need to grow and develop.
Our school motto is based around the idea of ‘togetherness’ – Work Together, Play Together, Succeed Together. The school’s curriculum promotes opportunities for this through the use of play pedagogy, involvement of parent/carers & for our children to have opportunities to actively participate within and beyond their community. Community partnerships with the Friends of Quarry Park group, Bailliefields Community Hub and continued strong links across our Braes HS Cluster support children’s participation in their community and enrich the curriculum. We strive to see curriculum in its ‘totality’ with opportunities for children to learn across the four contexts for learning. Pupil voice & leadership is important to us and we have developed our approaches to actively support learner participation.
Having opportunities to collaborate and learn together with colleagues within and beyond the school is really important to us. The school benefits from professional learning networks across the Braes Cluster Professional Learning Community and specific improvement priorities to work alongside Glendevon ELCC, Avonbridge & Drumbowie PS.
If you are the successful candidate, you will be required to gain/maintain PVG scheme membership.
