Gem & Jade's Happy Days Childcare is situated in Stretford. We are proud to be a very small, relaxed family run childminding setting.

Our priorities are the child's safety and happiness. Our small, friendly team of four, fantastic staff, ensure quality childcare for children in a homely environment that allows the children to develop at their own pace, nurturing their skills and curiosity and encouraging them to reach their full potential.

We are looking for someone with Deputy experience, lots of energy, and a passion and enthusiasm to work with children, to work with our 0 – 5 years to support the childminder in creating a safe, happy, and stimulating environment, and to Deputise, in the absence of the Manager across the full range of duties of the day-to-day Management of the setting.

The role requires good knowledge of child development, child protection and safeguarding; good literacy and good communication skills and computer / IT skills. The ability to build and develop good working relations with parents, staff, and other service providers.

Duties will include supporting a key group of children; working with the Early Years Foundation Stage (EYFS) curriculum; delivering high quality care and providing experiences, interactions and activities for children; observing, assessing and planning to ensure that all children gain the knowledge and skills required for the next stage of their learning.

Skills:

Outstanding organisation and administration skills are required to ensure the smooth running of the setting. Excellent written and verbal communication skills and have the ability to develop good working relationships with parents, staff and service providers.

  • Experience of dealing with all aspects of leading a team of staff
  • Deal with enquiries, show prospective parents around.
  • A thorough understanding of the EYFS and the Ofsted welfare requirements.
  • A sound knowledge of child protection and safeguarding
  • Delivering high quality care and activities for the children
  • Good computer / IT skills and experience of Tapestry is desirable.
  • Be responsible for the safe running of the setting in the absence of the Manager.

Responsibilities:
- Assist the Manager in overseeing daily operations and ensuring efficient workflow
- Supervise and provide guidance to staff members in the absence of the Manager
- Collaborate with the Manager to develop and implement strategies to achieve department goals
- Monitor and evaluate employee performance, providing feedback and coaching as needed
- Handle customer inquiries, complaints, and escalations in a professional and timely manner
- Assist in creating and maintaining department schedules and managing employee attendance
- Conduct regular meetings with staff to communicate updates, changes, and expectations
- Assist in training new employees on department procedures and policies
- Ensure compliance with company policies, procedures, and safety guidelines
- Perform other duties as assigned by the Manager

Requirements:
- Bachelor's degree in Business Administration or a related field (preferred)
- Proven experience in a supervisory or leadership role
- Strong organizational and time management skills
- Excellent communication and interpersonal skills
- Ability to work well under pressure and handle multiple tasks simultaneously
- Proficient in Microsoft Office Suite (Word, Excel, PowerPoint)
- Knowledge of industry regulations and best practices
- Ability to adapt to changing priorities and deadlines

Job Types: Full-time, Permanent

Salary: £27,000.00 per year
