Job description

This will be varied and will adapt over time as the ICB develops. However, the postholder is expected to fulfil the following key functions:- Deputise for the Designated Nurse / Professional as appropriate to ensure delivery of the functions as set out in the Roles and Competencies framework Provide support, expertise and advice into the safeguarding leadership team in overseeing delivery of the ICB statutory safeguarding functions and undertaking of statutory reviews Present the findings of reviews to the ICB and NHS England as well as other relevant partners ensuring recommendations are implemented Where necessary be contact point for statutory partners (Local Authorities and the Police) Attend meetings across the safeguarding partnership arrangements representing the ICB and be the recognised as part of the system leadership for Safeguarding Manage agreed local and system wide work areas, working with other deputy and designated professionals Support Specialist Safeguarding Practitioners in their statutory delivery of the safeguarding agenda in each Place and reiterate approach to working in an integrated and collaborative way with key partners Work with the Heads of Safeguarding to oversee the delivery of safeguarding in commissioned Providers at place. Working alongside Designated leads in providing assurance to Directors of Safeguarding and the Chief Nursing Officer and key Safeguarding governance groups, escalating concerns and risks as necessary. Alongside the Designated Nurses / Professionals, deliver an integrated approach to safeguarding with statutory partners at place, including supporting a culture of continuous learning and ensure voice and lived experience of adults at risk and Children are at centre of the ICB When appropriate, align to the regional and national NHSE work streams for Safeguarding embedding quality practice standards Continually assess and escalate any risk in relation to safeguarding arrangements Support the effective reporting into the ICB Place Based Assurance meetings and ICB Quality Committee of the effectiveness and barriers to safeguarding and MCA practice Contribute to an annual safeguarding report and regular assurance as required Work with and support preparation within local health services for regulatory body inspections of safeguarding and be engaged with improvement action plans arising Be a visible leader in the provision of quality safeguarding arrangements Provide safeguarding supervision across the health economy both within and outside the ICB where appropriate Ensure population health is understood and integral in the delivery of our safeguarding statutory functions Key working relationships The post holder will have regular contact with a wide range of staff at all levels within the ICB, with senior and other representatives of local stakeholders, as well as with patients and their representatives. Some of the key direct relationships include: Lancashire and South Cumbria ICB senior leadership teams Regional colleagues within NHSE/I including Safeguarding Leads Leaders across Lancashire and South Cumbria LAs, NHS, local authorities and other third sector organisations Director of Safeguarding Deputy Director of Safeguarding Heads of Safeguarding Deputy Designated Nurses / Professionals Designated Dr and Named GPs across the ICB Named Nurses in Provider Organisations Safeguarding Leads across Partner Agencies Safeguarding Adult Boards Safeguarding Children Partnerships Corporate Parenting Boards Regional and National networks / communities of practice
