Job Title: Deputy Director of Finance
Reports to: Chief Financial Officer
Job Overview: The Deputy Director of Finance will play a crucial role in leading and overseeing the financial operations. They will be responsible for managing a substantial portion of the finance department, which includes five teams and approximately 45 staff members. The role is critical for providing strategic financial leadership and ensuring the financial stability and growth of the organization.
Key Responsibilities:
Financial Leadership: Provide strong financial leadership and strategic guidance to the finance department, ensuring alignment with the company's overall financial objectives.
Management: Directly manage and lead three critical teams within the finance department: the Head of Income, Head of Management Accounts, and Head of Payments. This includes overseeing their work, setting performance goals, and ensuring their teams meet key financial targets.
Financial Management: Oversee financial reporting, budgeting, forecasting, and financial analysis activities to support informed decision-making.
Accounting Expertise: Ensure the financial integrity and accuracy of financial records. As a qualified accountant, the Deputy Director will leverage their technical expertise to review and approve financial reports and statements.
Education Experience: Ideally, the candidate should have a strong educational background in finance, accounting, or a related field. Relevant certifications or qualifications are a plus.
Practice Experience: Candidates with prior experience in public accounting or audit, especially at a senior level, are encouraged to apply. This experience will be invaluable in ensuring best practices and compliance within the department.
Team Management: Lead and mentor a team of approximately 30 staff members, providing guidance, coaching, and professional development opportunities.
Communication: Effective communication skills are crucial, as the Deputy Director will interact with a diverse group of stakeholders both within and outside the finance department. They should be able to translate complex financial information into understandable terms.
