The Role:
M&G are looking for a Deputy Fund Manager to join the Global Market Equities team. The team are responsible for a number of active Global Emerging Market equity funds and mandates, employing a distinctive long-term value-oriented investment strategy. A bottom-up fundamental research approach is used to identify companies whose future return on capital is being underappreciated by the market. The team is made up of four investment professionals reporting into Michael Bourke (Fund Manager).
The team are looking for a collaborative professional with a strong sense of consumer dynamics broadly across Emerging Markets (EM), strong investor self-belief to make stock recommendations, and experience and passion for Sustainability principles and practice.
Key Responsibilities for this role:
- Bolster the teams research capabilities and provide deputy cover for the Fund Manager.
- Undertake detailed analysis of corporate returns and valuation modelling to generate potential investment ideas for the strategy.
- Collaborate with internal stakeholders and teams including the commercially orientated Investment Specialist, operationally focused FMA and global sector-focused equity research team, Asia-Pacific equity analysts and our dedicated Sustainability function.
- To work collaboratively with colleagues and take personal accountability to maintain and enhance controls you are responsible for to support improvement of the overall control environment, customers outcomes and a reduction in M&G’s operational risk.
Key Knowledge, Skills & Experience:
- Relevant EM experience – covering consumer-orientated sectors and companies and researching of the largest names (staples and discretionary).
- Valuation modelling and discipline is essential.
- Previous trading, portfolio management and/or client experience highly valued.
- Strong investor self-belief
- A passion and experience with principles of sustainability principles and practices expected.
- Strong team player with commitment to processes
- Holt platform experience valued but not a pre-requisite.
- CF30 experience desirable but not essential.
