Deputy Headteacher

Job Title: Looked After Children Deputy Headteacher - Temp till 31st July.

We're seeking a dedicated Looked After Children Education Specialist to join our team and lead efforts to raise educational standards.

Responsibilities:

• Raise educational standards for Looked After Children in Bristol and those from other local authorities being educated in Bristol.
• Establish effective systems to support the educational achievement of Looked After Children.
• Support Bristol schools in meeting the educational needs of Children in Care to improve standards and attainment.
• Foster partnerships within the Council and with external agencies to enhance support, improve attendance, reduce exclusion, and raise attainment for Children in Care.
• Ensure effective allocation of Pupil Premium to enhance the educational outcomes of Children in Care.
• Collaborate with Corporate Parenting Strategy Leaders to align the efforts of the HOPE Virtual School with schools, social workers, carers, and other stakeholders to improve educational outcomes.
• Analyse data on educational attainment of Children in Care across different settings and use findings to inform service delivery and hold accountable those responsible for impacting educational outcomes.
• Disseminate best practices to schools and social workers to better support Looked After Children in education and beyond.
• Contribute to the annual Self Evaluation Form to assess progress of Children in Care.
• Support and enhance the Virtual School's Performance Management and supervision systems.

To be successful:

• Consistent experience of working with children (school age 4-16) who may have been exploited, experienced abuse, who have been in care and have experienced neglect.
• Consistent experience of leading within an educational environment
• Enhanced DBS adults and children
• Able to travel into Bristol regularly.
• Available immediately, with short notice period.
