Job overview

We are looking for a Deputy Headteacher Pastoral to join our team. This is an exciting opportunity to join Gloucester Academy and become an integral member of the Senior Leadership Team.
As Deputy Headteacher Pastoral you will support the Headteacher in sustaining the essential vision of the school. This role will see the successful candidate strategically lead on a number of areas under the pastoral framework. The roles that this will include will depend on the skill set and experience of the successful candidate. The pastoral framework encompasses behaviour, attendance, safeguarding, early help culture and ethos all of which are led and managed by a team of assistant heads, DSLs and associate assistant heads. The Deputy Head will lead the team to ensure the school vision is met, sustained and advanced. The finalised job role will not necessarily encompass all of the areas above but will be manipulated to suit the expertise of the individual.
The leadership team comprises of three Associate Assistant Heads who each lead on Personal Development, Behaviour, Safeguarding and Early Help. These are supported by three Assistant Heads who lead on Teaching and learning, Curriculum, Attendance, and Raising Standards and these in turn are strategically led by two Deputy Heads one of whom will be the successful applicant from this process. Our SENDco also sits on the senior leadership team along with two middle leaders who are on Secondment.
In the pastoral team we have five non teaching Heads of Year, a pastoral lead and a person responsible for behaviour intervention. These are supported by two DSLs and the Early Help coordinator. We have a psychotherapist that works one day a week with a number of students. We also have teaching heads of key stage 3 and 4 and a Deputy Head of key stage 3. In the attendance team we have an attendance officer, a community support worker and a DSL. We highly recommend that any potential applicants come and visit the school.
