3Hive provides therapeutic Supported Accommodation for young people aged 16+. We are committed to empowering and supporting young people during their transitional phase towards Independence, ensuring they have the necessary skills, guidance, and opportunities to thrive.
Our three and four-bedroom residential young people's homes are situated in Bournemouth area between Boscombe and Southbourne close to the beaches. We provide 24-hour individualised support for young people aged 16, 17 and 18 years old of all genders who have Emotional Behavioural Difficulties (EBD) because of early life trauma, complex or challenging behaviour, neglect and family breakdown or disruption.
We recognise the unique challenges faced by young people as they prepare to embark on their adult journey and into full independence. Our primary objective is to create a nurturing and inclusive environment that encourages personal growth.
We include both physical and therapeutic support with all staff being trained to the highest levels available to assist in their therapeutic parenting. Therapists and psychologists are available to provide one to one support to our young people whilst also being on hand to support staff.

· We provide them the opportunity to engage within our step-down support programme to full Independence with ongoing support beyond 3Hive.

Deputy Manager Role
Your role will be to support the Service Manager in managing all aspects of running the Homes within 3Hive, to ensure our young people are supported and prepared to move on to independent living, ensuring each home is compliant, as well as ensuring the overall practice within the homes is of the highest standard. As the Deputy Manager, you will ensure the high levels of emotional and physical support, appropriate activities, comfortable accommodation, and the service of keyworkers are planned, provided and applied in accordance with homes’ service specification to allow our young people to reach their full potential.
Reporting to the Service Manager, you will work closely to ensure the effective running of our services. You will oversee and support the day-to-day operations of the home, supervise the staff, engage with the young people as required and lead on the professional networking with our Local Authority customers.
Main Duties and Requirements:
Management:
· Responsible to the Service Manager & Director for compliance with the professional and statutory responsibilities and obligations of the organisation.
· Assist with compliance to include professional duties, legal/statutory responsibilities and obligations relating to our young people and staff achieving complete compliance management.
· Assist with compliance to include professional duties, legal/statutory responsibilities and obligations relating to both young people and staff in achieving complete compliance management systems in accordance with organisation plans and adherence to legislation and applicable regulatory bodies’ processes and procedures.
· Assist with performing all compliance duties in relation to both staff and young people
· Ensure smooth running of the team.
· Manage and implement training and development of the team.
· To be responsible for the management, co-ordination and development of a range of quality services for young people referred and/or accommodated within the home.
· To promote the practice of working in partnership with young people, their families, other 3Hive staff, and other agencies, in order to meet the needs of young people.
· To provide effective leadership by implementing organisational strategies, in order to enable objectives of 3Hive Services to be achieved linked to our SOP.
· To promote team development and effective team working.
· To maximise the effectiveness of staff through motivation, development and the application of 3Hive personnel policies.
· To take the lead in setting standards and evaluating achievements; to take a proactive role in securing improvements in the quality of services provided by 3Hive.
· To contribute to the development of corporate policies and service initiatives, aimed at improving the service provided by 3Hive.
· To set and review targets and objectives for the homes’ staff team in order to ensure that work is focused and has clear direction.
· To provide operational management of the staff team and to deploy appropriate staff resources in order that key tasks are fulfilled. To ensure that enough back up resources are available in emergency/out of hours situations including participation in an out of hours 'On-Call' rota.
· To have line management responsibilities for a staff team, ensuring that all staff receive appropriate induction, supervision and appraisal.
· To be responsible for ensuring a full flow of information into and out of the team and to develop effective communication strategies and systems which assist staff in the operation of their duties.
· To take a lead role in the gate keeping and allocation of a range of services provided to meet the identified needs of young people.
· To ensure that the staff team are enabled to undertake such duties with young people who are non-resident or who have been resident in order to provide continuity of care where appropriate or to avoid risks and deterioration of behaviours and health.
Responsibility to staff and direct the team:
· Day to day responsibilities for the team as agreed with the Service Manager to include:
· Assist with the management of all compliance-related activities
· Assist with ensuring that the organisation meets all agreed compliance (legislation and objectives) and that appropriate risk mitigation/control measures are in place
· Assist with risk assessments, audit reviews, monitoring & managing compliance within the organisation
· Provide advice, guidance and support to the organisation with regards to compliance
· Assist with identifying the lack of and/or improvements to policy and process, assess effectiveness of current policies and processes and recommend and implement required changes
· To assist with the recruitment of team members, subject to agreed criteria
· Train and appraise individual team members to ensure targets are met
· To assist with the performance and development of team members
· Reporting on management KPIs on a monthly basis, or as otherwise agreed with the Service Manager.
· To assist in developing plans for team activities
· Manage the preparation and agreement of individual action plans and targets for all team members linked to their individual supervisions or agreed all staff requirements.
· Manage and conduct presentations and author proposals for improvements within the service.
· Delegate authority and responsibility to team members with supervision, accountability and review with a clear time limit on expectations for completion.
· Set an example for team members of commitment, attention to detail, work ethics and habits and personal character.
· Maintain accurate records
· Control home expenditure and provide accurate budgeting and requests to the Finance Director.
· Adhere to all organisation policies and procedures
· Interact and co-operate with all members of the organisation, its suppliers and clients/customers
· From time to time you may be expected to be part of special projects as are reasonably required of your job role
· You are responsible for your allocated workload and must meet all targets as agreed with our service Manager.
· You must contribute towards the smooth running of the organisation generally.
Secondary Tasks/duties:
The Deputy Manager will be expected to complete Out Of Hours responsibility whilst on the 24 hour shift as well as one further OOHs shift during the week. As Deputy this will also mean supporting the Service Managers OOHs responsibilities when on annual leave.
All OOHs will be set within 3Hive Rota system for forward planning.
Hours of work:
Your usual hours will be from 9.30am to 4.30pm - 3days a week with one 24 hour shift.
You will be expected to work one weekend a month.
However, due to the role and responsibilities, you will be expected to work as and when necessary to meet the team's or young people’s needs, the requirements of the Service Manager and your targets.
The role is part of the whole organisation and as such requires you to perform such reasonable tasks that are required as and when necessary to maintain, promote, develop and expand the business of our organisation and its interests generally.
You must carry out your duties to the best of your ability, having consideration for the needs of your colleagues, and the organisation and our young people.
You must comply with the organisation’s rules, procedures and policies.
Person Specification
Essential:
· Level 5 NVQ – Leadership and Management
· At least 2 years’ experience of working within a residential children’s home or supported living service
· Full, clean driving licence
· Understanding of Equal Opportunities and Anti-discrimination practice
· Understanding of The Children Act 1989 and 2004
· Experience in safeguarding young people
· Must have good listening skills
· Good written and oral communication skills
· Report writing experience
· Computer literate
· The ability to work under pressure
· The ability to think ‘out of the box’
· Have empathy and understanding
Desirable:
· At least 5 years’ experience of working with young people
· At least 2 years’ experience of supervising team members
