Job description

In conjunction with the Medical Director and acting as a direct report, the Deputy Medical Director will be responsible for helping to deliver the Medical Directors office extensive portfolio. This will include but not limited to providing professional medical leadership across NHS Wales Shared Services Partnership (NWSSP) particularly in relation to the expert clinical advice relating to the medical and dental workforce employed under the Single Lead Employer; the Medical Examiner Service and the Primary Care Advisory team. The role will include guiding the Medical Directors office in strategic and operational decision making, deputising at Partnership Committee, sub-committee, Senior Leadership group and meetings with Welsh Government Officers. The successful candidate will also help deliver key programmes of work that will have an impact not only within NWSSP but across NHS Wales, these will include the international recruitment programme for NHS Wales and the implementation of both Speaking up Safely and the Duty of Quality across NWSSP. We would be looking for a senior practicing medical professional with Royal College membership who has extensive experience of high level management and leadership.
