We are seeking a highly motivated and inspirational Deputy RetailShop Manager for our Charity Shop in Long Eaton for 3 days per week. We require candidates who can work as part of a team and independently take personal ownership for the performance of the shop, maximise profits, manage a volunteer team and deliver excellent customer service. Training will be given but experience in the retail sector and a love of charity retail will be an advantage. Applicants are required to be a minimum of 18 years of age.

Responsible for: Shop Team
1. Purpose of the job
Reporting to the Shop Manager, the Deputy Manager will be trained in all aspects of managing the shop in order to become competent in assisting the Manager in achieving sales and profits targets, promoting the ideals of the RSPCA and the Branch and ensuring compliance with Branch policy.
2. Overview of the role
In conjunction with the Manager: to ensure that stock density, procurement, rotation and space allocation policies and procedures are strictly adhered to in order to maximise sales potential.
To be responsible for ensuring compliance with RSPCA and Branch Volunteering policies and paperwork.
To assist the Manager in developing a team of competent volunteer staff by selective recruitment and training in the following areas:
· Stock density and rotation
· Stock processing; sorting, hanging, ticketing, pricing, cubing and steaming
· Customer service - serving and assisting customers courteously
· Administration, till operating, cash handling, daily, weekly and monthly returns
· Housekeeping
· Merchandising, presentation and window display
3. Principal Responsibilities
· To ensure a high standard of merchandising, presentation and display within the shop.
· To ensure that the optimum price levels are achieved in conjunction with any pricing policy in operation.
· When required; to open and close the shop, ensuring trading hours are strictly adhered to.
· When required; to be responsible for the security of premises, stock and cash.
· To promote and apply the RSPCA and Branch Health and Safety Policy.
· At the direction of the Manager; to ensure that all administrative and accounting duties are completed accurately, ie daily banking and recording of income.
· To promote the presence of the shop within the local community through in-shop activities and events in order to encourage good public relations.
· To achieve and maintain high standards of housekeeping, organisation and cleanliness throughout the shop premises.
· When required; to attend and contribute to team meetings and training courses.
· If required; to assist Manager in the formulation of the shop annual plan and budget and implement accordingly.
· To assist and support in the implementation of changes and new initiatives as required by the Shop Manager, Retail Manager, Branch Manager or Branch Trustees.
· To undertake any other reasonable duties as may fall within the remit of the job and as requested by the Shop Manager, Retail Manager, Branch Manager or Branch Trustees.
· The postholder will need to support the Derby RSPCA Retail Department and enjoy working within a team.
4. Additional information
On occasions, the postholder may be asked to provide temporary cover in case of staff absence.

GENERAL Good state of health, active with outside interests Neat and tidy in appearance Car owner and driver a bonus but willingness to travel to other locations, undertake house collections by request and other stock generating tasks preferred
EDUCATION AND TRAINING
Good secondary education, Literate and numerate NVQ2 in Retail or Customer Service desirable
EXPERIENCE
Minimum 2 years retail or customer service experience desirable Charity shop experience preferable Supervisory experience preferable Preferred other sector experience would be fashion, soft furnishings, department store
