Job description

The Irish Sun leaves our rivals standing with agenda-setting showbiz exclusives.

We are looking for someone with experience as a showbiz journalist or working on a celebrity website, brimming with new ideas, has a bulging contacts book and thrives working in an exciting, fast paced newsroom environment.

Day to day you will:

  • Grow The Irish Sun’s showbiz and TV audience.

  • Cover breaking showbiz and TV stories.

  • Keen attention to detail and meticulous fact-checking. 

  • Create strong, punchy content that engages our audience.

  • Lead and manage a team of online showbiz reporters.

  • Able to suggest new angles and feature ideas to news/features desks.

  • Develop content plans and work with SEO and social media teams to reach wide audience.

  • Must have and maintain a wide knowledge of showbiz and current affairs and trends through reading various titles as well as utilising other media platforms on a daily basis.

  • Encourage collaboration and support others, actively engaging with people in other teams.

  • Willingness to work flexible hours over a seven-day rota pattern.

  • Positive can-do attitude and good team player.

  • Takes initiative in order to achieve desired results.

  • Self-starter, organised and a good problem-solver, able to eliminate obstacles through creative  and adaptive approaches.

  • Can demonstrate an understanding of The Sun brand, both print and digital.

  • Have a thorough knowledge of the IPSO Code of Conduct, media law and ethical considerations.
