We are currently recruiting for a Deputy Team Manager in our Child Disability and Transition team. The Deputy Team Manager would join the management team that includes a Team Manager and two senior practitioners. This is a new post offering a great opportunity to develop managerial skills and experience within a specialist and supportive team.
Our Child Disability and Transition team is a frontline assessment, case management team which specialises in providing support and services to disabled children and young people across the County Borough of Bridgend.  This includes children who are looked after and those disabled young people who are going through the process of transition into adulthood.
The team responds to children and families with complex needs or where there are early child protection concerns and provides high quality support and intervention for those with longer term needs.
The team works with disabled children and young people up to the age of 25 ensuring that they have consistency of support and a smooth transition into adulthood.
This post offers a rare opportunity to provide management support to a team which manages both children and adult cases. You will have the experience and confidence to undertake the main tasks of this role together with enthusiasm and commitment to learn and develop further skills and knowledge across the age span as well as a manager.
You will have a recognised social work qualification and three years post qualifying experience along with knowledge and understanding of the complex needs of disabled children/young people/adults and their families together with experience of providing supervision to social workers.
You will work in conjunction with the Team Manager and the two senior practitioners in the team to provide support to social workers and social work assistants to provide a quality service and be given opportunities to develop/enhance management skills and knowledge to support your own career progression and ambitions.
The local authority has recently launched the signs of safety approach which will underpin all of our practice with children in Bridgend County Borough. All new staff will be provided with a suite of training that will support them to develop their practice in line with the principles of the model and strength developed practice. This fits well with the strengths- based practice approach that underpins our work with adults.
