At Newark Town Council, we have created a new post of Deputy Town Clerk to add capacity to our existing dedicated staff team. This is an exciting and challenging opportunity which could ideally suit the Clerk to an existing smaller town or parish council looking to develop their management skills and professional career.
Newark Town Council is one of the largest town councils in the Midlands serving a population of around 32,000 and with a gross spend of approximately £2million per year.
The activities and services delivered by the Council have increased significantly in recent years and the Council has ambitious plans for further expansion.
Deputy Town Clerk - Newark Town Council
Salary - £48,474 - £50,512
Permanent Full-time

Key Responsibilities:
- To deputise for the Town Clerk and Responsible Financial Officer during his absence
- To provide strategic management to the Operations Manager and the Markets Manager
- To fulfil the role of Administration and Finance Manager and to directly manage the staff team based at the Town Hall
Newark-on-Trent is an attractive and historic and ancient market town containing over 360 listed buildings. It is surrounded by beautiful villages along the Trent Valley, yet house prices are 25% lower than the national average.
