Job description

Making a Positive Impact, Together.

Doing things differently.

Deputy Vice-Chancellor for Academic Quality & Development

About the Role

Nottingham Trent University (NTU) is the one of UK’s most consistently innovative, interesting, and influential universities. Our current strategy, University, reimagined, is changing conceptions of what a university can be and should be. It contains clear commitments to what we want to achieve and we have the wherewithal to deliver them. We have won numerous awards for the outstanding experience we provide to our increasingly diverse students which enables them to transform their lives regardless of their background. With over 40,000 learners studying across our six campuses, we are the sixth largest university in the UK, with a turnover in the region of £450m.

Sharing our vision and overseeing its delivery in our academic schools, we are now seeking to appoint an exceptional new Deputy Vice-Chancellor and Provost. The sole academic Deputy to the Vice-Chancellor and President, the postholder will play a pivotal role in the leadership of NTU, with direct responsibility for the eight Executive Deans of School and the Chief Executive of Confetti Nottingham and London as well as our unique University Centre in Mansfield. The DVC and Provost will be accountable for a number of crucial pan-institutional activities, such as the University’s EDI agenda, and will attend Board of Governors. They will represent NTU externally across a broad range of stakeholders, both locally and nationally, to enhance our reach and reputation.

A honed strategic leader looking for their next challenge and with established credentials in their own field, our new DVC and Provost will bring experience of operating at a senior level and a proven track record of driving excellent performance at pace. They will be an accomplished communicator who can engage and inspire colleagues within an open, positive, and high-performance culture. They will have views that they are able to express strongly and persuasively within an Executive Team that embraces collective decision-making and shared responsibility. If this sounds like you, we look forward to hearing from you.
