Starting salary from £40,051
Up to 10% bonus with car allowance £6,500
Permanent contract
Thorpe Park, Leeds or Doxford Park, Sunderland with hybrid working
Travel required to sites across the network as required

We have an exciting opportunity for a Design Engineer – Civil & Structural to join the team.  You will work within a small team of multi-discipline Design Engineers providing design services to the Capital Projects delivery function within NGN.

This will include the production of design services tender documents for outsourced designs, option studies, concept designs, FEED studies and detailed designs as required for all assigned civils and structural related work on our Network Assets and ensuring early G17 Part C sign off where applicable.  You will also be required to review and approve design documentation and design changes which have been produced by external consultants and other team members.  Where required, you will produce cost estimates for design scopes and support the preparation of business cases for sanction of the required investment.

Your key accountabilities and responsibilities will include
•    Production of civil and structural design packs, calculations, scopes of works, datasheets, equipment schedules, MTO’s, activity schedules, etc… on assigned projects
•    Contribution to HAZID, HAZOP and HAZCON studies
•    Design installation work and produce all necessary drawings and calculations for site layouts, support structures, foundations, trenching, drainage, asset protection and routing
•    Manage Civil & Structural design scopes within time and budget constraints and report progress as required
•    Assist on all CAPEX projects with Value Engineering studies, design TQ’s, Lessons Learned reviews, etc.
•    Produce reverse engineered design packs and G17 documentation for any legacy project work not found to be fully compliant
•    Liase with 3rd parties to ensure compliance of the full design pack

What we are looking for in our Design Engineer
•    Ideally an Incorporated or Chartered Engineer, with membership of a UK professional body or working towards
•    HNC, HND or Degree qualification in a related engineering discipline such as civil or structural engineering
•    Fully conversant with software packages such as MS Office, AutoCAD, Autodesk 3D Plant and Tekla Tedds
•    Ideally knowledge of IGEM standards and understanding/awareness of UK engineering design codes and legislation – ie CDM, HASAWA, DSEAR, PUWER, COSHH, LOLER etc.
•    UK full drivers license
