Form of workElevation Recruitment Group are working with a leading forgings business to recruit a Design Engineer to join their facility in Sheffield.
The company provide specialist forgings to highly regulated and demanding environments. As a Design Engineer, you will work on projects from sales handover through to finished product, liaising with customers and multiple internal departments throughout.
Salary: £30k-£40k + pension & benefits
As Design Engineer your role includes:
- Liaise with the customer from receipt of enquiry through final delivery of the product to ensure the design meets customers’ requirements
- Estimate forging design, weight, section, die and tool sizes and method of manufacture for product quotation
- Engagement in the site's APQP process for onboarding new products and communicating the design manufacturing requirements at all levels within the organisation
- Contract review
- Day-to-day coordination and creation of technical documentation necessary to support the facility's operational requirements
- Prepare drawings for all product ranges as required, ensuring all technical requirements are met
- Design and draw dies, tools, jigs, fixtures, and gauges for manufacture
- Peer review technical drawings and submit relevant drawings to the customer for approval
- Maintain departmental records to ensure both customer and internal drawings are kept up to date
- Prepare sampling details and issue instructions to relevant departments for development of product
- Support operations teams with manufacturing queries
We are keen to hear from Design Engineers with the following skills and experience:
- HNC/HND in Mechanical or Production Engineering
- Skilled user of 2D & 3D Design software
- Background in a heavy engineering or hot-working environment
- Knowledge of forging & machining equipment and principles
- Experience with quality tools (such as APQP, FMEA, 6 Sigma, 8D, 5 Why) would be advantageous.
- Well developed people skills - able to work with customers, designers and shop-floor staff
