What you will do
Join the Johnson Controls Integrated Systems team in Cambourne as the Design Manager. In this role, you will be instrumental in ensuring the smooth execution of our post sales design activities. Your responsibilities will include the management of the design team (approximately 8 heads) which includes Mechanical Design, System Design (Electronic Security), CAD and Documentation. You will also be expected to lead by example and will undertake design projects in your own right as a designer at a senior level alongside the team management tasks. How you will do it
You will do this through effective leadership of the team in delivering designs drawings, parts lists, and specifications; by reviewing sales specifications and tender documents also ensuring design schedule is met for subsequent procurement, installation and commissioning.
What we look for
Johnson Controls is seeking a highly skilled individual to join us as Design Manager. We are looking for an exceptional candidate who possess the following skills, qualifications, and qualities, which are crucial for success in this role:
Design Expertise: Candidates should have experience in designing integrated security systems. Familiarity with digital CCTV Systems and peripheral components, Access Control Systems and components, Ethernet Local and Wide Area Networks and Fibre Optic transmission. Candidates must have a good understanding of regulations associated with the Security Industry and regulations applicable to electrical installations.
Design Understanding: Candidates should have a good understanding of Mechanical Design, CAD and Documentation Systems, including Common Data Environments.
Project Implementation: Candidates should have a good understanding of project implementation, such as Procurement, Project Management, Installation, Commissioning and Acceptance processes in order that the design team’s output complements those tasks.
Design Qualities: Candidates should have a clear, methodical and thorough approach to their work, and to be able to impart these qualities to the team.
