Our client is a Northern Main Contractor, with an office based in the North East. Possessing a strong pipeline of commercial buildings throughout the region, they are looking to bring an experienced Design Manager into the team to continue pushing forward this success.
Roles and Responsibilities:
Design Coordination: Oversee all aspects of the design process, from initial concept development to detailed design, ensuring alignment with project requirements and objectives.
Team Leadership: Manage a team of designers and engineers, providing guidance, support, and mentorship to ensure effective collaboration and optimal performance.
Client Liaison: Serve as the primary point of contact for clients regarding design-related matters, fostering strong relationships and addressing any concerns or feedback in a timely and professional manner.
Risk Management: Identify potential design risks and proactively implement measures to mitigate them, ensuring project success and minimising disruptions.
Quality Assurance: Maintain rigorous quality control measures throughout the design phase, conducting regular reviews and inspections to uphold the highest standards of excellence.
Budget and Schedule Management: Collaborate with project managers and stakeholders to develop design budgets and schedules, monitoring progress and making adjustments as necessary to ensure adherence to timelines and financial constraints.
Compliance and Regulations: Stay abreast of relevant industry regulations, codes, and standards, ensuring that all designs comply with legal requirements and best practices.
Innovation and Continuous Improvement: Drive innovation and efficiency in the design process, exploring new technologies, methodologies, and best practices to enhance project outcomes and streamline workflows.
Qualifications:
- Bachelor's degree in Architecture, Engineering, or related field (Master's degree preferred).
- Proven experience as a Design Manager or similar role within the construction industry.
- Strong leadership and communication skills, with the ability to inspire and motivate team members.
- Proficiency in design software and tools (AutoCAD, Revit, etc.).
- Excellent problem-solving abilities and attention to detail.
- Thorough understanding of construction processes, building codes, and regulations.
- Ability to manage multiple projects simultaneously while prioritising tasks effectively.
- Membership in relevant professional organizations (e.g., RIBA, CIOB) is desirable.
