Design Manager

Your new role

You'll join a leading design studio known for its creative and bespoke prowess, specialising in the retail, commercial and hospitality sectors. They're a highly creative organisation, driven by expressing their clients' brand through specialist designs.

In the Design Manager role, you'll be responsible for:
Leadership:

• Setting high personal and performance standards for the team
• Providing assistance and mentorship to junior designers in the team, while managing your own portfolio of projects
• Management of architectural projects from concept to delivery

Communication:

• Monitoring and conveying client expectations and feedback to the design team, including timelines and deadlines
• Organising and leading design-focused meetings and project reviews, maintaining cohesive and high-quality design outputs
• Promoting and facilitating collaboration between the design team and other internal teams, including architects and workshops

Systems and processes:

• Collaborate with directors and the rest of the senior team to ensure design hours align with budgets
• Ensure staff adhere to internal processes, including timesheets, meeting minutes, budget and project management templates and drawing standards
• Scheduling, allocation, monitoring design resources across all projects

What you'll need to succeed:
You will need a proven experience in a Senior Design role, preferably having lead a team or working up to be a team leader/manager. You will also display:

• Excellent leadership and mentorship skills
• Strong communication and interpersonal skills
• Ability to manage multiple projects and meet deadlines
• Proficiency in relevant design software and tools such as: SketchUp, VectorWorks, Lumion, Adobe Suite and Rhino
• A keen eye for detail and a commitment to quality
• Architectural experience preferred but not essential
