We are currently recruiting for a well established client in the Nelson area. They are looking to recruit a Design Manager on a permanent basis. This is an exciting opportunity for the right person, please see below duties and responsibilities.
Duties & responsibilities:
- Lead and manage the design team, overseeing all aspects of the design process from concept to completion.
- Collaborate closely with clients, architects, project Managers and Cad Technicians to understand design requirements and deliver exceptional solutions.
- Develop detailed design plans, technical drawings, and specifications.
- Conduct site visits to assess project scope and ensure accurate design implementation as and when required.
- Stay up to date with industry trends and innovation to continuously improve design quality.
- Oversee project timelines and budgets, ensuring design deliverables are met within deadlines and cost parameters.
- Provide guidance and support to junior designers, fostering a collaborative and creative work environment.
Experience required:
- Previous experience as a Design Manager within the joinery or architectural industry is essential.
- Proficiency in industry-specific software, such as AutoCAD, SketchUp, SolidWorks, 3D CAD.
- Proficiency in reading construction/manufacturing drawings.
- Strong knowledge of construction materials, manufacturing processes, and joinery techniques.
- Excellent communication and leadership skills, able to effectively manage a team and liaise with stakeholders.
- Creative mindset with a keen eye for detail and ability to translate client needs into functional and visually appealing designs.
- Proven track record of successfully delivering projects on time and within budget.
Hours of work & benefits:
- Monday – Thursday 8am – 5pm and Friday 8am – lunchtime.

- Salary between 35K – 40k depending on experience.
