GSL Education are recruiting a Design Technology Teacher to work within a Secondary School in York, North Yorkshire from September 2024. This is a great opportunity for a Qualified Teacher seeking a change in pace or simply after a new challenge.

Design Technology Teacher responsibilities will include:

• Primary duties include teaching Design and Technology to KS4 or KS5, but the ability to teach other specialisms across the department up to GCSE level would be an advantage.
• Evaluating the ability of individual students, putting together BTEC materials for exams, and helping students with special needs.
• Use all available resources to engage young people.
• Contribute and engage in extra-curricular Design and Technology activities.

• Take part in staff training days, staff meetings and parent’s evenings.
• Successful candidate will also be required to teach some other subjects that they are passionate about which will be discussed in interview.

Minimum candidate requirements:

• A UK teaching qualification namely e.g. PGCE in Design and Technology or B.Ed with QTS.
• Experience teaching BTEC Design Technology and supporting young people with SEMH.
• Up to date in their field of expertise with the capability of fostering curiosity and interest for the subject.
• Able to teach across the age and ability range at age 11-16.
• Willing to become an encouraging Form Tutor.
• Strong command of the curriculum and good behaviour management skills; able to meet deadlines.
• Be effective at behaviour management linked to complex social, emotional, and mental health needs.
• Hold an Enhanced DBS registered to the update service or be happy to apply for a new one.
